Forum Rules
« on: October 25, 2011, 06:49:55 PM »
Below are the guidelines for the Starfleet Commander Forums. They are in addition to Starfleet Commander's Terms of Service. They are not meant to be a comprehensive listing of every possible situation and how to approach it, but to offer some guidance to new and old posters, and to "set the tone".

Stay On Topic
The Starfleet Commander Forums are constantly growing, and more players come to this place to ask questions, discuss matters, seek information or meet other players that they had not yet a chance to encounter in Starfleet Commander. We've created a number of different forum areas ("sections") that are for a certain topic or range of topics. Making sure that you post your message to the appropriate section/board makes it much easier to find relevant information. Before you post a new message, please look at the available areas and read the descriptions carefully. We reserve the right to lock, move or delete threads that have been placed in the wrong section.

Choose Appropriate Subjects
When you post a message, please make an attempt to come up with a relevant subject line. For instance, "Question: Ship Building Time" is much better than "EVERYONE READ THIS !!". Using appropriate subject lines helps everyone to read messages that contain information that they are interested in.

Don't Bump Threads
A bad habit often seen on message boards is that people post messages with irrelevant content to existing threads for the sole purpose of refreshing threads so that the discussion appears current or is being kept near the top of the list of recent topics. This causes other posts to "scroll off" faster, and is widely considered an annoyance. The so-called "bumping" also triggers other forum users to constantly refresh their own threads as well, and sooner than later, the quality of the forum would suffer. For this reason, "bumping" is not welcome and may result in threads to be locked. Multiple responses to a thread are welcome, as long as they contribute constructively to the topic at hand.

Refrain From Spamming
Please do not "spam" our forums. Spamming means that the same message is posted multiple times. This also includes cross posting (posting the same message to several sections even though it is not on-topic in some of these forum areas) and repeatedly posting identical messages in different threads. Spamming is not permitted and "dupes" of messages may be deleted. Constant spamming may result in temporary or permanent removal of the posting privileges. Please use common sense.

Don't Use Profanity or Name Calling
Abusive language, profanity, and name calling are not permitted on our message boards. This includes abbreviations. We also do not allow obscenity, personal attacks or any other form of abusive language. Using asterisks or other symbols to filter your message does not bypass this policy. Such message may be locked or deleted, and warnings are issued if a player violates this rule repeatedly.

Don't Use Slurs
Sexual, racial and religious slurs may result in the immediate account suspension, either temporary or permanently. Both your forum and your game account could be affected by this action.

Be Constructive and Civil
Starfleet Commander is an international game. Many people with different backgrounds, values, ethics and beliefs participate. The same applies to the audience of our forum. You'll encounter players that have opinions that you totally disagree with, and topics that are controversial. You are entitled to your opinion. We ask, however, that every forum participant respects the views of other players. Agree to disagree, discuss and argue constructively -- do not resort to name-calling or slanderous accusations. Let your arguments speak for themselves without taking it to a personal level. Flames are discouraged, personal attacks and insults are a violation of the forum guidelines. Attack a player's statement, do not attack the player himself.

Remember that Intent Matters
Posts made for the sole purpose of "fueling the fire", spreading false rumors in an attempt to worry or upset other forum participants (including accusations of cheating), or dragging down the over all "climate" of our Forums, are not appropriate and may be locked or deleted.

Respect Administrative Decisions
If a message or a thread was locked or deleted, please do not repost the same mesage or thread. If you disagree with a decision and wish to express your opinion or clarify why you posted something, please contact a forum moderator or an administrator via the PM (private messaging) system. Ignoring administrative decisions may lead to the restriction of your posting privileges and access to Starfleet Commander.

Crew Invites
Do not post crew invite requests on the forum. All posts will be deleted and repeated violations will result in your forum account being banned.

Support Rulings and Suspensions
Do not discuss suspension, page blocks, or support ruling in any other section other than Support Rulings. Failing to follow this rule may result in the post being locked or deleted and multiple violation may result in a loss in posting privileges.

Advertisements
Please do not advertise similar web-games or products on these forums. Any posts doing so will be deleted immediately.

Bug Reports
Non-critical bugs may be reported in the bug report forum. You are encouraged to use the in-game support link to support bugs so that we can obtain crucial information along with your bug report. However, if you cannot use that in-game support link you are encouraged to submit your report via e-mail to support [at] bluefroggaming [dot] com.

Account for Sale/Trade Threads
Selling or trading your Starfleet Commander account is not condoned or supported by Blue Frog Gaming. As such, threads advertising the sale of accounts or seeking to trade accounts are not permitted to be posted on the official forums.

"I'm quitting, come kill me" posts are not permitted on this forum.
While we're always saddened when a player opts to leave a game for whatever reason, posts announcing that a player is quitting and that his fleets will be available for destruction, whether that is at a certain time, location, or otherwise, violate the spirit of the game and are not permitted on this forum. Posts made in violation of this rule will be deleted.

Additional Policies
All policies that apply to the Starfleet Commander service apply to these forums as well, even if they are not listed separately in this document. We also assume common sense and basic manners that are found in every society or community. Please respect the administrators' requests.

Effective immediately, we've removed the requirement that you remove planet coordinates from posts before posting. However, please be courteous and respectful of others in the community when posting about them or their planets. If you post planet coords for the purpose of harassing another community member, your post will be edited and you may lost your posting privileges.
