I have found them to be very efficient deterrents more than anything.  You have to have numbers though..  10 is bad..  20 is terrible.. WITH an arte screen..    I have played with some numbers and actually had some interesting run ins with large numbers of Zeus..   They can be very nasty..

Also if you get more than 50 it causes all sorts of havoc on battlecalc.. ;) LOL   I am still having to do a work around when dealing with huge d or large numbers of Zeus.

FYI.. the answer to Zeus are Proms..

Oh.. and that thing about OCH transports..  yea if you have enough of them.. but still it is a pain and I usually want my OCH transported a little faster than 20+ hours for cross G..

equal prom value to zeuses past the 100z mark is way more scary.

What "work around" is that, pulling out the ol' Visa and buying some more credits for some planet hopping and/or specialists?

And the answer to Proms is plasmas

Where did that come from?? geeze.. the work around is in battlecalc.. Most battle sims can't handle the larger numbers that I tend to see and attack..  Wow.. talk about repressed anger..or is it jealousy?

Obvious you don't have much experience with Proms and higher techs..   10K or 20K proms will clean the clock on plasmas as well as large numbers in d..

I don't even blink on 100 or 200 plasmas..   400 and up and it's just the hydro cost to launch that worries me.   I can go 4 rounds with only nominal losses ..  5-15 proms..  when it's a full prom attack..

The Zeus is the one thing that has enough fire power to kill on one hit.  Proms also tend to limit the RF of the Zeus more effectively.   My all time high loss on Hades vs. Zeus is 50 hades to one Zeus with nothing else in One round.. :(  Yea..  I questioned the math as well.. BFG said it is possible.. :(

With a RF of 15 vs the Hades, there is 93.75% chance of passing the rapid fire test on any given round and getting another shot..  If I recall my statistics correctly that works out to an ~4% chance of getting RF 50 times in a row.. so yes, well within the realm of possibility.

Yea.. but still sucks.. I had a run of those in a row.. :(  40+ hades lost to single Zeus..  uggg..  hard to plan on those..   To bad I didn't have that type of luck with my moons.. :P

The flip side of it is that there is a better chance (6%) that the Zeus does not achieve RF at all than it achieves it 50 times in a row.. Sounds like you do a lot of Z killin' with Hades, so I would imagine it has worked in your favor as often as against you..

Stats is a harsh mistress.

@Starskillz You might want to keep an eye on the sky. Kenneth has his Heph wandering about, and it's not a pretty sight from this end of the fleet screen :|

Stats is a harsh mistress.

I really want to say something amusing here about your mum, but I invariably get in trouble when I say anything like that, so I better not.

Aside from the frs. They are good for...

Attacking larger npc's over night.. Now you can only do that from a moon or you'll get destroyed!

Aside from that they are pointless IMO. Here's why.. If they fail to rapid fire in a round during battle they don't do much for you... So you're almost better off using the resources to build proms.. The amount of resources used to build 1 zues will get you around 75-80 proms...

80 proms  base shield = 40k base weapons = 160k Hull = 880k
1 zues = shield 50k weapons 200k hull 900k

Now if the zues fails to rapid fire it's done and only hit 1 ship.. How ever the proms have 80 chances at rapid fire and can potentially hit 80 different targets (or more depending on rapid fire)... Plus you can use proms to attack things.. You can't attack anything with a zues aside from npc's...

I fear proms more then I do zues..

That's sound advice Mr Inappropriate Sir :)
Smart players don't buy them .. excess baggage 'n all that :)
I've never met a greeny I can't take down so who needs a Zeus ??
.. I currently have no intention of zapping real players .. why spoil someone's game when you can hit a greeny ??
.. I might review my stance on that if someone attacks one of mine ..
yours Turtly .. Meek :)

That's why you need more than one.  When I hit a 100 plasma NPC with 30 Zeuses, it get wiped out with no losses.  You would need upwards of 800 proms and 400 ares to get the same effect, and then you would probably still need hercs to get the OCH, and they'll take losses too.  Granted, no active player should fear Zeuses, but they are nice for NPC's.
