I pushed a small update out today that will fix a number of small, odd, bugs that had been occurring. If you use Chrome you should received a notice in game. If you use Firefox you'll need to download it by clicking here.

Hi, Matt,

I have experienced an anomaly.  Here is my scenario:

I have the parser screen open, doing an NPC search for G9:Seekers:Colossus.  The results do NOT return a Colossus in 9:388:15e.

I go to that Galaxy page, there is the Colossus.  I wait on the page for several seconds -- certainly this is enough time to parse :-)

I go back to the parser screen, refresh the view -- and the Colossus doesn't show.

I've run this scenario several times, always with the same result.

Maybe items at the very bottom of the Galaxy page aren't being parsed properly?

The parser no longer parses your own galaxies due to some database problems. If you are attempting to parse your own galaxy, this would be the reason why.

Otherwise, you'll need to tell me what Universes you are in.

First: I want to say that I do have the script, and it is running...

Second: I appreciate the fact that you don't have to have the script, to use the search - it's alot like the Ogame search site that doesn't require anyone to have any script. - it's fair to everyone. +1 for that.

Just wanted to add my .02

In the future, the search site my encourage you to use the script if you aren't, but for now it remains as it is.

With respect to the activity tracker -- is that information accumulated "forever", is it calculated based on a 3-day rolling basis, or is some other approach taken?  The example on your Web site talks about scans over a 3-day period, but there is no clear statement, one way or the other, how long scan results are retained.

I'm in Original.  This behavior was not consistent.  This particular Colossus was the only NPC for which I saw this behavior.

Yeah, I noticed that my own solar system wasn't being parsed. Every other solar system in my galaxy that I scanned appeared to be parsed.  At least, each such system was disappearing from the "needs parsing" system tracker, when I refreshed that view after scanning.

It is accumulated forever.

It is accumulated forever.

If it's feasible to do so, it might be useful to remove aged data -- say, results more than 3 to 5 days old.  Continual accumulation with no removal of old historical results can mask changes in recent behavior.

Excluding historical data tends to result in their being not enough data available to really make any conclusions about play patterns. To change this, I'd need to see a significant up turn in the number of users parsing the galaxies.

Understood.  Your parser has been out the grand total of 6 days, and the word is just now getting out on it.  I introduced the parser to my Alliance yesterday, and the members uniformly are incredibly impressed.  Similarly, my wife has introduced it to her Alliance.

Soapbox statement here, not to Matt -- if you are a reader of this thread, PLEASE get the word out to your Alliance about this tool.  As Matt mentioned, the results are only good if we have a lot of us playing like little ants, and getting the information into the tool.  Having a well-populated parsing database benefits ALL of us, so get to clicking, folks :-)

What about a decaying average?

The database is not structured in a way to determine when the activity was added to the database.
