I got waxed
« on: December 19, 2013, 12:54:02 PM »
So I got brave and attacked an abandoned Seeker Cruiser. I sent 2 poseidons 2 curetes 6 artemis and 6 apollo fighters and I got waxed in 1 round.

I have licked my wounds and rebuilt all I lost. Do I have a chance vs. a small krug fleet? I have more ships, how many should I send? My ESP only showed resources not how many ships are there.

Thanks.

Increase your espionage tech or send more probes so that you can see the full report.

Thanks Matt.

I lost the 3 probes I sent and my ESP level is 6. Guess I need higher.

Go after krug and uracrath fleets.

Seekers are a bad option

thank you Soloist.

I won a spy upgrade on the daily draw ( ESP +2 ). I used her with 3 probes and saw nothing more than before. Lost those probes as well.

I'm gonna leave the fleet alone and keep building up.

Rule number  one: If the alien fleet name shows in red, move on. Two: If it shows green, send at least 10 or more probes to get a full scan. You still might lose a few probes in the process but that is cheaper than losing an entire fleet for lack of decent info. You could also ask an alliance member with higher rank to scan for you.

Awesome John, Thanks.

I never thought of sending probes in that quantity. Like you said though, losing probes is better than losing cruisers and fighters.

Any idea roughly how many ships constitute a small Krug fleet?

It scales as the game progresses and can vary greatly from fleet-to-fleet so I would always have a good espionage report before going in.

And the type of ships in the fleet matter as well.

As for knowing how many probes to send, the reference is here:

http://wiki.playstarfleet.com/index.php/Espionage_Tech#Espionage_Number

The optimal numbers (for getting full information while using no more probes than necessary) are listed under the "7" in the second table.   I would suggest picking one of those numbers (like 6, 7, 8, or 11) and setting it to be the default number of probes on the OPTIONS page (link at bottom of any game page).
