game is running slowly matt, hanging fleets, quest rewards showing but cant be retrieved, having to refresh constantly

no score updates as seem to be ususal with new unis

The very early npcs won't have d or s because no players had d or s. Give it a couple hours.

they will always have def after the first hourly update if they scale with the players

the players win def by purchasing tokens and the npc's update as well

There are still NPCs out there. They are just getting destroyed faster than new ones are replacing them right now.

First week or 3 of EX the npcs were tough to get to. I recommend Poseidon, and faster Pulse Drive. It gave me a huge lead over everyone else.

there were none for the first 50 or so systems last night , even today tehre is not many destroying them - think all the yankees are asleep

When everyone is hunting them and is capable of killing them, none of them last long. NPCs seem to build up fast late game only because less people are hunting them and more of them aren't worth killing (or, in most uni's, because hitting them once doesn't obliterate them). But they spawn at the same rate. The trick to maximise efficiency early is to look around every hour on the hour. Only a few spawn every hour, and maybe none will spawn close enough to kill. But if you look around every time the clock goes into the next hour you'll be more likely to get them.
