Just an idea here.  Not saying that a heph can have a shipyard or anything.  How about allowing defenses won in the lucky draw to be placed on the heph?  It might boost sales of tokens! :)

If the heph docks, the defenses could either just be discarded or transferred to the moon it docks to.

After all, the NPCs have defenses, it's only fair!

To create a New Uni from scratch is likely easier than adding a new set of code into a game that is already running and working. Remember that the code has to be run through and tested to function, prior to allowing the game to be released for play.

One additional snippet of code is not as easy to plug in as non-programmers may think. The trickle-down effect can cause far too many problems to occur, necessitating many more hours of chase and replace.

For BEST results of getting features the players want, the coders ask for honest input toward the features of the new game. They try to make it nice for the players. But the hold-up from the players must also be taken into consideration. Not many (if any) players want to walk away from the months or years of invested play time, to try a new game.

Therefore, a compromise between the coders and the players is in order.

1)CAN the players be GIVEN a good setup in the new game, within comparable reason to what they have already established in an earlier version?

2)ARE the players WILLING to loose  SOME of their establishment, in order to have a decent setup in the new game?

If the coders say no, the players will not want to go over and walk away from the earlier version.
If the players say no, will the coders be ABLE and WILLING to simply duplicate established levels per requesting player into the new game? ... CAN this be done? If yes, I see this as the answer to satisfy both the coders and the players.

With this settled and out of the way, the real ideas for the new game can begin to flow and be discussed.

The first reply needs to come from the coders. If they can not, or will not allow some consolations, the players need not even reply on their own willingness to surrender any of their established works in their current game.

Just sent this.
Hey Jason and Matt!
Of course, as you know, I STILL love playing Original Universe. A BUNCH of us do. Got a couple of things I hope you'll consider. A LOT of the old d-mode guys have said that they won't come out unless you guys add a few things like new ships, units, etc.
How about a new Stealth Research? Higher levels make you more stealthy and able to detect stealth attempts against you. Has to be tied in with Espionage, Faster Than Light, and either Warp drive or maybe a Stealth Drive.
A cool new unit to tie in could be a Stealth droid/Spy/Mercenary. Offensively, it would have a one-way mission and be capable of disabling (if successful) an enemy Warp Gate for an hour. Success would depend on level. Higher levels could increase length of time proportionally like higher Warp Gate levels. The cost would have to be similar to a heph. No mercenary would agree to a one-way mission without a cost.
Numbers of this unit could also be deployed on our moons as a defense against the above mission from a Warp Gate Attack. They may need a special building/barracks to be stored properly.
I can see this adding to some interesting situations/twists in an attack/war! Incoming attack will be noted as usual. Ah!, a ninja opportunity. One minute out, STEALTH Ship(s) detected! Maybe a Yellow stripe.
Oh, guess we need a Stealth Ship to use the new technology. Also a single use item since it's a one-way trip. You can call it the Aegis. Only capable of moving one occupant. I'd give it a similar cost since it is using the "new" technology. I'd probably only give it a speed similar to the Charon, but that's just me.
Of course I still want the ship I proposed a few years ago. The Boomer Escort. It really doesn't do anything except play your choice of attack theme music. My choices are STILL ZZ Top's "La Grange" or Rush's "Tom Sawyer". LOL!
I think if you could add something like these to our game, I think you'll see more interest/players/possible revenue. It'll prove to the old school guys that you haven't forgot about us. I know you haven't. You still take care of ALL my other (reasonable, lol) requests.

Regards,
