Distance Between Colonies

Is there a benefit to having your colonies close together in the same galaxy or spread out between different galaxies?

Depends on your style of play.
If you hunt then space them so you have more targets.

Hi, Ron,

If you are a devout people-chaser, then it can be useful to spread widely throughout the universe, spacing your planets so that you can have probe coverage of the entire universe.

If you are into growth, you will be an NPC hunter.  In that case, having most (or all) of your planets in a single galaxy is an effective approach.  In order to keep the cost of hydro down (running Dio fleets can be expensive), a number of players go with planetary spacings of between 20 and 30 systems.   Personally, I like to be able to have a chance to hit anything that spawns in G8, so I go end-to-end and space most of my planets 60 systems apart.
