You know what I hate?

Recolonizing. Today I get the pleasure of abandoning my planets to try and get more fields. YAY for me!

I'm going to wait until I fill up my colonies before re-colonizing.  At this point in the game the resources from the colonies you have will be VERY helpful compared to building another GIA and trying again.  Unless you have filled up all 8 colony spots I would say keep the colony and fill it with power arrays and mines.  Then later on kill the colony and send another one in.

Either way good luck on rolling the field dice and scoring that 300 field planet.

Calc'd all of it and decided on just over two days to repay the initial colony ship, two apollos, and then enough for another colony ship. Big waste of time really, if only I could have just colonized and ditched :P

At least after today I won't have to recolonize my farms again :)

At this stage in the game I'd imagine it be more profitable to keep crappy colonies and just put on mediocre mines - that way you do not stump your growth . Worry about recolonizing once you have an attack fleet to easily make up the colonization losses.

My 2 cents.

Get mine production up to 7200 trade value, leave for 2 days and recolonize. That's enough for 2-3 apollos, repay the mines and the initial gaia, plus enough for a gaia to recolonize with. You might want to go for another 8 hours of production to get enough for another gaia.

I hate someone getting to the colony that ive been trying to colonize for the last 150 hours and then have to wait another 150 hours for my gaia to get back so i can try and colonize the next slot over. Oh and did i mention the waste of 60k hydro in sending the fleet to colonize... This blows...

Where are you trying to colonize Nero?  :-)  Galaxy 30?

Speaking of colonizing the inactive that was removed in a VERY fast fashion (mostly because I scanned them yesterday and realized they must have JOINED the game last week and NEVER did one thing) opened up a lovely 7 slot in my home solar system.  :-)

Come on 200-300 field planet......

That's close to what I'm planning if I colonize a crap planet. So far, I've been lucky in both games in that I haven't colonized one planet with less than 150 fields *knock on wood*

But I would use the crappy colony build for the new attempt at a colony. Why waste money destroying a perfectly good colony when you can just use it to build it's replacement?
