Alliances / Re: Official Alliance Recruitment Thread

Kobol Alliance is still here.  We started as fans of Battlestar Galactica.  Always accepting new members of like mind.  Willing to support new or returning players.  I can be found at [27:210:5]

I like a lot of what Tal-Khoraash was saying.  You CANNOT get rid of 'd' mode here.  If so, then what 90% of the players would disappear.  I am a mostly 'd' player the last few  years.  Although I do actively play another universe with no 'd' mode.  Perhaps there could be some bonus or extra game feature for players that play other BFG games to be used in Original.  (shorter in and out of 'd' mode time {actually I don't like that idea}, the ship RE-builder scenario, some special in system NPC spawn thing, IDK.

I did like the idea of defendable special "NPC's", it would have to be a new race and clearly marked.

I do believe many of us would help new or returning players get going if we could connect.
My problem is that all the Universes are 'funner' to play than this, the only reason I stayed here is this is the Original, and where I grew to like this game, a sense of Loyalty.  We know how slow it is to get going here.  With player friend help though, it can be done.  I would imagine we can still remember rebuilding new colonies from scratch with plenty of resources once we realized the importance of 300-320 field planets.
maybe another compression, or a one time period of free planet moves to let alliances to regroup again.  (silly, but throwing stuff out there)

Bug Reports / Parser Not working.."corrupted?"
« on: January 06, 2018, 05:43:29 PM »
Today all of a sudden parser and (battlementat- but it is now) wasn't working.  My Chrome Ext. page says it 'may be corrupted', I deleted and installed it and get the same result.
I don't know if this is a new situation, a temporary thing being worked on or something I'm slipping up on.

General Starfleet Discussion / Retaliation for being probed?

Is it legal or understandable to be hit with 234 Nukes after probing a guy a couple times in one day?  No other attack or attempted attack came from the guy -or me at him - related to this incident.

yes, legit hits by the letter of the rules, but I'm surprised at the responses so far.  (a couple more 'overnight production' hits and round of 55 nukes last night too.)
In my 6 something years playing, the joy has always been in challenging, sporting hits, OR big hits.  It has been more common for me to congratulate a player for blowing up a fleet of mine (when I goofed on FRS) and then sometimes they offer to leave the debris or invite me/players to buddy up or join an alliance.  This is a sporting game and build and attack and tactics and social interaction.   Pecking little hits on someone ranking almost 3 times lower with his large fleets is a complete waste of his res and efforts.  However he is free to do them that way.  3 years in dip/vaca (playing uni2 for a minute then Stardrift Empires since then) with a couple slip ups has me at a great disadvantage.  However I know the tricks and will stand and poke back as I can.
I did pop his heph a couple weeks ago.  (He instantly had one rebuilt.)
My alliance and his (old) alliance had a war years ago and he and another player were notorious for stupid stuff and continued hostilities after the war ended.
I have heard that there are others out there......

alright, I'll suit up with Mentat then.  I had had no problems with battlecalc, and thought BFG ran it, I see I was in error.

I'm not crying, just surprised of the style of play there. :o ???

General Starfleet Discussion / Re: Planning Starfleet moving forward!
« on: January 20, 2012, 08:31:41 PM »
Matt and BFG,

I really like SFC and enjoyed unlocking the ships and techs and figuring it out how best to use them in my early months.  This game as whole works very well.  I find it to be like a real time version of the board game Risk or Axis&Allies.  This lets us be commanders of battlefleets AND also socialize.  Lots of 'problems' with this game are mimicked in real life.  Fleets get destroyed and we have to rebuild, accidents happen, frs forgetfulness-fall asleep.  Things take work/time to build.  Certain resourses are more valuable than others.  The rich get richer and poor stay behind-Generally.  (although in certain parts of the world the actual people in these groups does change).  etc etc  Being a game however, this is a problem in this voluntary participation.  I don't know the answer.  Finding a way for alliances to be able to work together in more ways may help this.
I found the tutorial (and wiki) to be very good generally.  And have been re-exposed to it in helping a couple new players come in.  It's good to stack them together so they can attack each other to start that experience.
scfO should be the biggest focus for keeping players I would think.

Now what you asked for-
-I like the idea of some sort of Flagship vessel (limited quanity 1 or 2)
-definately needs to be a middle protection level versus super top players
**rather than add new bigger meaner toys for super top players, perhaps make it easier, or enourage for those top players to attack each other
-I like the NPCs, could be cool if they could attack us also
-yes daily roll instead of lottery
-yes to refund of some hydro on recalled attacks/missions
-like the rank insignia in SDE but the 'badges' are silly (too me)
-NO to now permanent structures being damaged
-NO to driods and such being taken
-not sure about the minefield concept, maybe if it were indiscriminate like in real life and that players ships would also have to aviod the planet/body or risk damage

-while part of the challenge is managing time and fleets, it would be nice to have a bit more flexability in long frs times to work around our real lives,  Part of this would be helped in taking steps to make the games more Smartphone friendly where possible-and Not just iPhone and Andriod..??
**perhaps come up with a way (or ships) to allow guerrilla hits.  This would be to attack higher ranked players than own, and allow to slip through most of a players defences, but only be able to take 10% of a planets res.  I'd wished for this as a payback when I've been attacked.
**possibly a mini-heph or 'troop/ship transprt' carrier that can be used like a MAC can but allow for a 'safe-ish' return to original planet.  This is like a MAC but would not need 2 planet slots.  Just one.  This would be a have one per player at a time ship, with some sort of limited capacity so as not to tork off current heph owners.  This would help span the empty areas of space.  (for intermediate players)
-TARGETS?, the problem is that most players still playing are 'too good' at frs or bing on line.  One real problem is thinning population so perhaps another compression may be in order.
+finally, turtle players stink
now back to trying to improve my 2,000-3,000 rank standing in sfcO
Uni-1,2, SDE
ps please delete the moaning posts, and I hope all the sfc work DID payoff in $$ from syfy-NBC
