Today's downtime started at 15:30 UTC and was to be done by 16:30 UTC.  As of this posting, it is now 18:30, and universe X2 is still down for maintenance.  Seeing as how this is two hours overdue to let us back in and playing, I can only assume that something was found wrong, and that BFG needs to spend extra time fixing it.  While I don't mind the occasional downtime for routine maintenance (I actually prefer it, so that BFG can continue to give us a game that many of us enjoy playing on a daily basis), if the game will be down for longer than expected, I would like to request that a message be posted in the forums and on the "Starfleet Commander Extreme Uni 2 is Down for Maintenance" page letting us know what the delay is and some kind of estimate when it will be fixed.  Even if BFG does not have an ETA, please at least tell us *something*, and give us an occasional update while the maintenance is going on.

Last time there was an emergency take-down of the game to fix something, we all got extra credits and a 24-hour attack ban to say they were sorry for the unplanned interruption of the game.  I was appreciative of the compensation, and I have no complaints of what happened to stop the game or what happened after the game came back up again.  I hope something similar will happen today when the game gets fixed.

X2 has been back online since 16:30UTC. You'll need to clear your browser cache and flush the DNS records on your computer. You can follow the directions that Achmed shared here: http://forum.playstarfleet.com/index.php?topic=21154.msg252562#msg252562

Thank you for the suggestion.  Fortunately for me, all it took was a reboot of my computer, and I am back online once again.
