Do they work?

I have heard of strongholds for the longest time. Players will group together in specific areas in multiple galaxies. They'll all go to the same system in the furthest galaxies.

I've always preyed upon these strongholds. Players will warp in their fleets and not bother to fleet save. It's easy pickings. So I don't see any benefit.

Is there any at all?

What happens when you attack a player with probes?

I attacked this with 50 probes

DEFENSES:

* Laser Cannon: 106

* Pulse Cannon: 17

* Gauss Cannon: 2
* Plasma Cannon: 13
* Decoy: 1
* Large Decoy: 1
* Anti-Ballistic Missile: 10

This is what was left:

He lost: 5 missile batteries, 2 lc, and 89 space mines

I lost 50k crystal, he lost over 250k crystal. Is this the way it is supposed to work?

The effect of this is that profit margins will be significantly higher on lower to mid level NPCs and significantly lower on the high level NPCs.

These two changes taken in combination allow us to tailor the low to mid range NPCs to reach our goal of propelling newer players through the game while reducing the effect of NPCs in the later game and in turn restoring some of the player versus player aspect of Starfleet Commander that many of our more advanced players enjoy.

We believe that these changes address many of the concerns being raised and we will continue to monitor the feedback from players and make additional changes as necessary. Thank you for your continued support and feedback.

WHen the new NPCs were released people cried. People cried again when they were nerfed, and cried some more when they were restored.

From the crying, I agreed with the thread started by Andy. He called out the top players, like WGW and himself, for profiting from the new NPCs far too much.

I started an account in Nova to see what the changes were like.

The low range NPCs were nothing, an absolute waste of time vs inactives. The newst bottom range NPCs aren't even worth scanning.

The mid-low range NPCs were a little more useful, as nobody else was attacking them. so a 400k resource attack was a boon, evn though it took a 3 hour round trip. New NPCs are again not even worth scanning.

The mid range NPCs were seekers, not profitable unless you have over 50% fleet as rsp, and large enemy fleets good profit. I could make 10-15M per day from them compared to my 7M resources per day. Now with 4 hour turn arounds for harvesters I can profit 4M from the fleets, so not too bad, but not worth the time, inactives are still more profitable.

This is where I am now. Seekers have never been profitable, and non enemy fleet encounters were worth 100k converted after all was said and done. The claim that the new npcs were more profitable at lower levels didn't really seem true, now it is not. If BFG intends to keep their word I would like to see how the new NPCs help out at all. A person rebuilding or trying to rank up won't have the fleet to profit from the new change.

In my opinion past account infractions should remain. Buyer beware as they say, you need to do your duty and find out what the owner of the account is like. If the owner is a known cheater and had been suspended X times before (even if that number is above the 3 strike limit.) The seller may be looking to make a quick buck off a sucker. He can sell the account, get the funds, and turn around and say you were renting it. BFG may transfer the accounts email, but may be connected to facebook, or vice versa. In both cases either way you access the account can interact with BFG to have the account transferred back fully to the same player. So, again, be careful.

If anybody wants to discuss this, remember to stay on topic. The topic is BFG's rule on infractions not being reset upon account transfer.

As the title says. If RSP range vs NPCs is based off of fleet value only then everybody has a fair chance. The fleeters will have the lowest profit margin NPCs but the most valuable, while the miners who are now being hurt by their mines will get to battle more profitable NPCs allowing them to "catch up" to their competitors.

So far its all ooohs and ah shits. Obviously old NPC encounters were broken if there was only one true approach. Now there is a little more teamwork necessary to take down an NPC. I'd like to see somebody post a win vs these newly modified foes, somebody who can tell the rest of the whiners to quit complaining that farmverse is no more.
