General Starfleet Discussion / Using war for moonshots
« on: August 09, 2011, 07:22:36 PM »
Is it valid, legal? I know at least a big alliance that does that in SFCO and another that is planning to do that.

I think it's system abuse. I see no reason to do that further than abusing the system to gain DSP rank. But there's no rule about this, so I can't report anyone. What do you think?

Feature Suggestions / Increase war points limit
« on: June 26, 2011, 04:24:13 PM »
At least for uni2, 1,000,000 points is too low. A war shouldn't be decided in one battle.

I'll repeat what I posted in uni2 forum, because no discussion happened there to convince me otherwise.

The max points limit for a war is too lo. It will almost always end with one hit, at least for big alliances. It makes no sense and bring no plus to the game further than an easier way to get more DSP and profit.

It makes luck much more important on who will win the war. I'll give an example: chess matches are decided in 10 or even 20 games. That has a logical and statistical reason. A match between two alliances (or two chess players) can't end in one battle because it has absolutely no statistical significance. Do I have to show you how many confrontations must be done to decide with 95% accuracy who's is better between two players (or alliances) supposing that the better one has 10% more chance of winning than the other? It's big.

I suggest a max of 25M to 50M.

General Starfleet Discussion / Solar/NPP on spy reports
« on: June 06, 2011, 08:55:11 PM »
Does anybody knows why they are the only buildings that aren't shown in the espionage reports? Is there a reason or were they just forgotten?

I think they should be shown, by the way.

General Starfleet Discussion / New script: Spy++
« on: January 14, 2011, 06:23:07 PM »
Spy++ is espionage report parser script for Firefox/GreaseMonkey and Google Chrome. Eljer refered to it in the another topic so I decided to open it to the community.

Features:
- Summarized report, shows only the important information;
- Works on all pages of messages;
- Shows resources points of fleet (S), defenses (D) and resources (R) in the message subject;
- Shows six waves plunder data, including number of hercules/atlas;
- Shows ships and defenses as pictures for fast and easy reading;
- Shows hourly production of ore and crystal mines (suposing mines full of droids);
- Shows approximate production time of ore and crystal (if it's less than 24h);
- Compatible with SpeedSim Clipboard Monitor function (On Firefox);
- Link to parse directly to Battlecalc.com;
- Shows number of dios needed to harvest the fleet;
- Toggle original link to show or hide original report;
- Works on all four universes (uni1, uni2, uni1x, uni2x).

Download and install it here:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/93789

For those who don't like the ships in pictures, a text only version:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/94577

Enjoy.

Version history

Version 1.1:

Wow, suddently the RAGE boys asked every friend in almost all the galaxy, including members of urine extraction group (Steve Bridges, Scipio starcanus and Iridian Zore), to reverse The Ship Destroyer and Darth Odie and get their hephs locked. When they finally gathered enough ships, a storm of messages started to come, as usual of Genaral Duke's legacy.

But look Darth Odie's fleet screen...

Something wrong is not right! It seems they messed something. On The Ship Destroyer they did even worse, they were 1h late. Both were able to save their hephs...

Meanwhile we noticed that one guy of the urine extraction group, Scipio starcanus was attacking Darth Odie from his heph almost 70 systems away with proms ... and my heph was landing in the half way! Yum...

With a little help of a friend of cCs, Major Overkill, we reversed the reverse and made the heph went poof.

He was ranked about #140 when it happened, I don't know where he's now.

I was not really worried with a reverse on the reverse reverse on my heph, because all the fleets their gathered to try to take down TSD and Odie were busy returning home and wouldn't reach me in time. But they gathered some more newbie ships to take my heph down in a reverse reverse reverse...

Well... TSD group defended me while I was returning and Odie stayed to backup TSD, so everything was safe. I wasn't even a ninja, but one of the guys didn't recall and....

Support Rulings / Captcha issues and more...
« on: January 03, 2011, 09:47:00 PM »
Once I complained about a player in uni1 in a ticket, I gave the player name and Jason asked the coordinates  :shock: ...

... and when I think things can't get worse, I submited the following ticket:

Quote from: "me"
Please make the Ajax requests don't trigger the captcha. I had a member of my alliance suspended for three days by don't filling a captcha triggered by the progress bars Ajax refresh when he was sleeping.

You developed a automated system to refresh the progress bars, and you put a detection against automated actions on it. It's just an absurd. You can't blame your customers by mistakes in YOUR code!
And got the following answer:

Quote from: "Jason"
Why would he have the game open when he was sleeping?

Blue Frog Gaming Support
Quote from: "me"
For no reason. There are some people who don't shut down the computer, I'm one of them, for instance. Why would I close the SFC tab, so? I've just woken up from a 3h long nap and the two SFC tabs were open all the time. Is this illegal? Are you really really really trying to blame even more your customers by YOUR mistakes? I'm a programmer, I know what I'm talking about. The matter is not his suspension, it's already past. That's not what I'm complaining. I'm trying to colaborate for a better game, but I'm almost giving up. You and your company seems to be absolutely deaf and just don't care about that.
Do you see guys? Don't leave your browsers open while you sleep! BFG don't like that. Ridiculous. They make a crap code and suspend you for not behaving in a such way that the code works. They make their own site auto-refresh and put a detection on it against what they made themselves. That is, they want the user to adapt to the code. It's just like if your browser crashes when you mistype an URL... or the calculator crashes when you divide by zero... or a game crashes if two users try to sign up with the same name. Absurd. By the way, two weeks before that I submited a ticket asking they to just remove the refresh when a progress bar ends (it's the only solution I see for a deeper issue in that) and got the following answer:

Quote from: "Jason"
I will forward your suggestion to the people who make these decisions.
aka "We will do nothing."

Feature Suggestions / Open source
« on: January 02, 2011, 01:59:51 PM »
I know BFG is a small company and SFC is a big game. I'm a programmer and I know how hard and time spending is to change some stuff or develop new features (some are easy). So I suggest BFG to make SFC open source or at least part of it.

There are lots of programmers that play SFC and I think some of them would code some stuff just for fun. I've already written at least 10k lines of code for SFC. The best softwares of the world are open source (Linux, Firefox, PHP, Apache, etc). It's an absolutely effective and cheap way to develop. If the problem is a lack of budget/programmers/time, I think it's a plausible solution.
