Feature Suggestions / More hydrogen in all universes
« on: June 18, 2013, 02:36:14 PM »
According to the wiki (emphasis mine);

Quote
Hydrogen is a chemical element with chemical symbol H and atomic number 1. With an atomic weight of 1.00794 u (u for hydrogen-1), hydrogen is the lightest element and its monatomic form (H1) is the most abundant chemical substance, constituting roughly 75% of the Universe's baryonic mass.[/i](7)(note 1) Non-remnant stars are mainly composed of hydrogen in its plasma state.

Considering it is the, "most abundant...substance" in the universe, how about BFG make it more readily available? Also, if an opposing NPC fleet is fairly large, why *wouldn't it* have a huge supply of fuel?

I wanted to give the Admiral a chance to post this himself, but since he hasn't I'll do it for him.

Admiral claims it was unintentional, that he landed on the territory only seconds before me, but he did some very savvy things that he deserves credit for;

1. He sent overwhelming force, resulting in him not only crushing the NPC, but also my fleet, which was powerful enough to knock off the NPC with zero losses itself.

2. He timed the dions to arrive moments after my (*cough*) crushing defeat.

In the attack from Moonbase Alpha ‎‎[x:xxx:xxm] on Military Territory ‎‎[x:xxx:xx]:

You failed to take over the territory.

The attacking side acquired 0 resources.

Military Territory (DEFENDER) lost 0 RSP and gained 0 DSP. (more)

  * Contributed 74,250 RSP to the battle.

  * Lost 41,000,000 ore, 26,250,000 crystal, and 7,125,000 hydrogen in damages.

Conquest Universe / NPCs attacking territories
« on: April 18, 2013, 02:22:03 PM »
OK, this has happened way too many times to be unplanned. I have two issues that I would like to have BFG address;

1. Within minutes (this latest time, within seconds) of me taking control of a territory, an NPC attacks.
2. NPC attacks occur from a "Wormhole" located at the site of the territory. The attack time is approximately 11 minutes (I know this because I just refreshed the screen with a difference of about 10 seconds, and the Fleet screen was clear one second, and the inbound attack was there seconds later with an attack time of 11:00). With Pulse 5, Poseidon only GD and being in the same slot as the territory, my attack time is 12:04. WTH? These NPCs have such an advantage, that it is impossible (certainly at this stage of the game) to send a GD in time to protect your territory.

Yesterday, I had to reclaim a territory 4 times just from NPCs on the same territory, each time, a subsequent NPC attack occurred within minutes. I don't mind the res from later crushing their fleet, but my ownership of the territory is limited to less than 10 minutes in each case. I'd really like to get an explanation as to why this design decision was made.

Season One Archive / Don't FRS from your moon
« on: November 07, 2012, 12:52:26 PM »
Perhaps this is common knowledge and just my ignorance, but apparently, when your moon is destroyed and you have frs'd from that moon, your fleet goes *poof*!

Lytjohan led an attack on Geministar at Aphrodite ‎‎[xx:xx:xm].
The following emerged from battle after 1 Round(s)

*****Attacker: Lytjohan with 21,595,000 RSP involved (initial fleet RSP) *****
Poseidon : 0  (Lost: 55 of 55)
Zeus : 0  (Lost: 2 of 2)
** Resources lost: 11,100,000 ore, 8,385,000 crystal, and 2,110,000 hydrogen.
** Destroyed Ship Points Gained: 0

*****Defender: Geministar with 0 RSP involved (initial fleet RSP) *****
Missile : 0  (Lost: 2 of 2)
Pulse : 0  (Lost: 1 of 1)
** Ship Resources lost: 0 ore, 0 crystal, and 0 hydrogen.
** Total Resources lost: 10,000 ore, 2,000 crystal, and 0 hydrogen.
** Destroyed Ship Points Gained: 21,595

After 1 rounds of combat: The attacking side acquired 0 resources.
Geministar (DEFENDER) lost 12 RSP and gained 21,595 DSP.
(more) Lytjohan (ATTACKER) lost 21,595 RSP and gained 0 DSP.

The following defenses were rebuilt: Missile Battery x2 Pulse Cannon x1 3,330,000 ore and 2,515,500 crystal are now floating at this location.

That last line is sort of amusing. I must have a pulse cannon floating around in space ;)

However, learn from my mistake, if you didn't know it already, DO NOT frs from your moon, or you risk returning to find your fleet is gone. BTW, I don't think this benefits the attacker(s) either as they receive no DSP from the fleet's destruction.

(more) Some of the enemy's defenses were rebuilt.

56,679,600 ore and 37,340,700 crystal are now floating at this location.
There was a 40.0% chance that a moon would form from the debris.
However, no moon formed.

I knew those zeus were going to cause me some issues finishing the deal, but the DSP was worthwhile and I hope to make up my losses by doing a trade with FF for crystal:hydro as I only grabbed about 20m/20m of the df.

Extreme Universe 2 / Adjust the NPCs again please
« on: September 13, 2012, 10:00:40 PM »
OK, BFG. You've weathered the exodus from the players that didn't like the amp'd up NPCs, and players went hog-wild for a few weeks jumping ranks like crazy, building infrastructure, building ships and defenses and pumping up their research tree...

However, now you've gone back to NPCs that aren't worth crap. If you aren't going to benefit (due to the loss of long term players) from the decision you made previously, why would you have made a change in the first place?

a. Good move on making NPCs worth 0.5 DSP, that was a good move because there is absolutely no risk to hitting them from a moon.
b. Good move on reducing the insane amounts of res available on the NPCs, it was unbalanced.
c. Terrible move on making the res available **WORTHLESS** now. Since the debris fields don't yield hydrogen, not a single NPC is worth hitting because the cost to launch (profitably) against them is never recovered and it is a constant drain on the hydrogen stores.

Please consider re-vamping the NPCs one more time and put a larger percentage of hydro on them. We might as well go back to the way the NPCs were originally otherwise, because I can foresee that there will be a serious drop off on NPC hits unless we have a way to recoup our hydro expenditures (other than the merchant).

After 4 rounds of combat: The attacking side acquired 7,659,179 ore, 7,622,768 crystal, and 2,237,698 hydrogen.
Some of the enemy's defenses were rebuilt.

OK, so I'm figuring that around a 2m/1m df should be sitting there, and yet nothing. Maybe the fix that BFG put in to fix the other universes' NPCs making df for a short window of time, got implemented in Nova as well?

Help?

After getting a couple of her smaller fleets, I enlisted the help of my ol' buddy Riker for the coup de gras'. The DSP at the top part of the report is off, but you'll see the actual values at the bottom. Oh, and a new moon was delivered.

Support Rulings / Missing Ships
« on: April 17, 2012, 03:11:23 PM »
I'm sure this has probably been addressed elsewhere, but I have some comments about my incident.

1. When I opened a ticket and reported my ships missing, no effort was made to coordinate the return of the ships. I was missing about 1800 Proms and 1200 Ares, hence if BFG just returns the ships any ol' time it pleases without coordinating with me, then they are likely to be destroyed at the earliest convenience of the nearest enemy. I'm pretty sure that BFG's stance on ships destroyed after they were returned to the universe from whatever blackhole they were sucked into would be, "tough luck, you should have frs'd", so don't screw victims of your bug that way -- Arrange to have the ships returned on the player's timetable so that they don't lose their ships.

2. My ships were returned to a seemingly random moon. It just so happened that these particular ships launched from my "home planet's" moon, so I can't fathom why the ships were placed on a moon over 200 star systems away. -- Arrange to place the ships at their original location, even if that means putting them on a moving Hephalump or in a frs'd fleet.

3. I was returning from an attack when my ships went *poof*. To launch the ships, it took ~1M hydro, and I lost 19 Ares in the attack, which means I had a decent amount invested in recovering the res on the attacked planet. The plunder I had onboard was about 1.9M/725k/462k, none of which was returned to me. I submitted a battle report to show that the ships were not destroyed and just vanished without a trace, which should have been sufficient to determine how much plunder I was carrying when the ships disappeared. -- Determine and return the res on the lost ships (if any) along with the ships that are returned, it certainly isn't the fault of the player that the bug affected them, why should they be further penalized by disregarding any res they were carrying?

4. Due to the time between the loss of my ships and their return by BFG, I was unable to conduct an attack that I was planning on to hit a planet with about 14M in res sitting out in the open on it. I also could not do my normal frs so that my ships would be available first thing in the morning like normal, in fact, my ships are coming in during the maintenance downtime, making them useless this morning. -- Compensate the potential losses of the player by giving them something, I'd think a free token or 3 would suffice.

General Starfleet Discussion / Can't build silos on moon?
« on: March 26, 2010, 07:06:24 PM »
I searched for this topic since I figured it must have been addressed previously, but I didn't find anything.

Anyway, I opened a ticket 3 days ago (3/23/2010) about my inability to build silos on my moon, and I have not yet received a response back from BFG.

No where in the wiki is the inability to build a silo mentioned that I could find.

In my Tech screen while my moon is selected it even shows green for Missile Silo, ABMs & IBMs (the Missile Silo 2 & 4 requirements are green even though I can't, and haven't, build the silo) but I'm still unable to build the silo.

Anyone know if this was intentional or not?
