Feature Suggestions / Fleet Status on Galaxy Page
« on: May 19, 2010, 04:17:14 PM »
Just that. Since I would guess most of us launch probes/attacks from the galaxy screen, a box at the top or side showing "8/12 Fleets Used" or whatever (like on the mission page) would be helpful.

Feature Suggestions / Diplomacy Mode Timer
« on: April 20, 2010, 03:09:18 AM »
Obvious and simple suggestion:

When entering or leaving Dip mode, a timer to show how long until transition is complete would be most helpful.

New Player Corner / Diplo Mode Question
« on: April 11, 2010, 11:55:41 PM »
What is your status while you're going into or out of Dip mode (!)?

Do I have it correct that you can't attack, but you can BE attacked?

I understand there has to be a mechanism to prevent just popping in and out of Dip mode with no delay, but that kinda sucks...

General Starfleet Discussion / Leaving the Game: Yr Doing It Right
« on: April 08, 2010, 03:25:57 AM »
This just struck me as hilarious...
Scanning around for ripe inactives the other day, I ran across a planet where someone with a sense of humor left the game. It had just a few resources, less than 10K of anything, but 40 lasers and 30 pulse cannons.

   Guess the guy subscribes to the scorched earth principle.

New Player Corner / Attack Problem??
« on: April 07, 2010, 05:44:59 PM »
I'm trying to launch an attack... I pick the target planet, select the number and type of ships to send, but when I hit the 'Dispatch Fleet" Button, I get a brown bar (where the 'no fleet slots available' message comes up) that just says 'cuz'.

I'm thoroughly puzzled... what's going on?

New Player Corner / Dumb Question re Incoming Attack
« on: April 05, 2010, 11:50:43 PM »
How are you informed of an incoming attack? Is it in the form of a message, or an icon on the screen, or what?

Well, I said it was a dumb question.

New Player Corner / Attack Warning Time
« on: April 01, 2010, 04:37:52 PM »
How much warning do you typically get of an incoming attack? (I have 2 Esp)

When I have everything pretty much out on (i) harvests or building a new building, there's not much to do for a while. How often do I need to check my screen to see an attack that might be coming, so I can send my res away for a while? Every 2 minutes? 5? 10? 15?

New Player Corner / Finally!!
« on: March 30, 2010, 03:18:25 PM »
At last! Enough hydro in the tanks to research Jet Drive 6 so I can get myself a Dio!!

OK, that doesn't sound like a big deal to you veterans, but accumulating 19,200 hydro when you're still a noob is a lengthy process.

Next... gee, I can hardly wait to see what it actually costs to BUILD a Dio.

New Player Corner / Attack Time
« on: March 30, 2010, 01:22:39 AM »
I realize it's early in my growth process, but my attacks - even to a system right next door - have a minimum (total) time of 4 hours or so. I realize the freighters are what's slowing things down.

Is this an average time frame for attacks, even later on?

New Player Corner / stupid but simple espionage question
« on: March 28, 2010, 03:45:35 PM »
Looking around for inactives to raid, I see some planets marked (in) but the espionage icon is grayed out, while others have the icon lit. What's going on?

New Player Corner / Fleet Saving Question
« on: March 27, 2010, 08:42:17 PM »
OK, last dumb question today, I promise.

In order to Fleet/Resource save, you need to have at least one colony world, so you have a place to send the loaded ships to, right? Or is it possible to send a loaded fleet to an uncolonized planet? Or is there a third option I'm missing?

I can't build a Dio or Colony ship yet.

Thanks for all the help. Really appreciate it.  :ugeek:

New Player Corner / Activity while Logged Out...?
« on: March 27, 2010, 07:44:04 PM »
I haven't been able to find a straight answer to this one anywhere...

If I send an attack fleet, then go off line, does the fleet go on and finish the attack, or does leaving the game cancel the mission?

Just wondering if I need to keep the SFC tab open for the two hours or so it takes them to meke the round trip.

New Player Corner / Non-Wikified Questions
« on: March 27, 2010, 04:08:02 PM »
Before you answer, yes I've read the Wiki, and played for a while on my own, figuring things out.

A couple things that are not quite clear , or or not really covered in the wiki files...

It talks about "building" more mines, etc. Is "building" the same as "upgrading"? If you have, say, ore mine at level 8, can you build more level 8 mines, or do you "build" more by upgrading. I know it sounds dumb, but the wiki files are kinda vague on that one.

I understand the different buildings/structures that supply energy... Is it better to diversify, i.e., have some solar arrays, some nuclear plants, and some solar satellites? I mean... it takes 2000 crys + 500 hydro to build a satellite that puts out +19 power, while upgrading an array from 10 to 11 takes 4325 ore + 1730 crys, but gets you +109 power - obviously the array is a better deal, so is there ever a reason to build satellites?

And here's the dumbest question of all: what's the ultimate object of the game? I'm thinking extend your empire by colonizing, build up your defenses, conquer other planets and (eventually) systems when you can... don't piss off powerful neighbors until you can defend yourself... eventually become the biggest dog in the yard. That sound about right?
