Feature Suggestions / Alliance War Neutrality Percentage tracker
« on: May 23, 2016, 04:47:47 PM »
Alliance War Feature Request to add a neutrality percentage tracker.

Similar to the diplomacy percentage tracker which calculates the percentage of players in diplomacy mode for an alliance.

The neutrality tracker would calculate percentage of Active, non-diplomacy players of an alliance, in neutrality mode.

select a percentage during war request, like the diplomacy requirements, and forfeit war if the active members total percentage exceeds the limit.

feature would not prevent players from using or purchasing neutrality markers.

feature  would require alliances to monitor the players and coordinate using the markers during a declared war.

feature would not be active outside of a declared war.

Feature Suggestions / Dead End Techs suggested revitalization
« on: November 05, 2015, 03:26:18 PM »
According to the wiki ....

The following techs have no further benefit or requirement requisites

Laser Tech    no benefit beyond Level 14 (required for Laser Cannon, Pulse Cannon, Hades, Zues)
Particle Tech    no benefit beyond Level 10 (required for Poseidon, Particle Cannon, Heph)
Plasma Tech    no benefit beyond Level 9 (required for Ares, Plasma Cannon, Zues)
FTL Tech    no benefit beyond Level 9 (required for Hades, Prom, Zues)
Expedition Tech    no benefit beyond Level 8 (required for Carm and Heph)
ARCNet    8    no benefit beyond Level 8 (research specific tech)

These techs provide no benefit or cease to provide value, beyond increasing research points, at higher levels once the requisites level is reached. There is no incentive to continue to research these techs beyond the base requirements to unlock defenses, buildings, ships, or other techs.

Expedition Tech would need new missions at higher levels requiring larger quantities of ships and time to complete and is beyond the scope of this discussion.

ARCNet has been extensively discussed in other threads and is beyond the scope of this discussion.

That leaves the following dead-end tech branches
Weapons Based:
Laser Tech    no benefit beyond Level 14 (required for Laser Cannon, Pulse Cannon, Hades, Zues)
Particle Tech    no benefit beyond Level 10 (required for Poseidon, Particle Cannon, Heph)
Plasma Tech    no benefit beyond Level 9 (required for Ares, Plasma Cannon, Zues)

Movement Based:
FTL Tech    no benefit beyond Level 9 (required for Hades, Prom, Zues)

What would be the effect of ...

granting a bonus to the amount of damage inflicted by each of the ship and defensive structures based on the requirement for unlocking those items.

What if a Laser tech lvl 20 started providing a 0.01% increase, in damage inflicted, to Laser and Pulse Cannon as well as Hades and Zues? Increase not to exceed .10% (top level would be 30, research times and cost progression would remain unchanged)

This can also be applied to Particle and Plasma Tech the same way for those items in which the tech is required. Increase not to exceed .10% (top level would be 20 and 19 respectively, research times and cost progression would remain unchanged)

I.E. Particle Cannon, Poseidon, and Heph for particle tech --- Ares, Plasma Cannon, Zues for plasma.

What if...

FTL Tech could add 0.01% to the speed of Hades, Prom, and Zues. Increase not to exceed .10% (top level would be 19, research times and cost progression would remain unchanged)

so what would the affects be?

Here is a first glance ....

Weapons Based Techs: Laser, Particle, & Plasma
Laser Cannon +.10% damage from Laser Tech
Pulse Cannon +.10% damage from Laser Tech
Particle Cannon +.10% damage from Particle Tech
Plasma Cannon +.10% damage from Plasma Tech
Poseidon +.10% damage from Particle Tech
Hades +.10% damage from Laser Tech
Ares +.10% damage from Plasma Tech
Zues +.10% damage from Laser Tech, +.10% damage from Plasma Tech (Max 0.20%)
Heph +.10% damage from Particle Tech

FTL based increases:
Hades, Prom, & Zues gain 0.10% Speed increase reducing travel time between destinations.

Bonuses can be extended through out all UNI's
Bonuses could also be allowed for NPC's on battle calcualtions (requires additional Tech lvl info for those encounters)
Increased cost to research techs could cause BFG revenue increase due to purchase of trade merchant.

Level requirements are arbitrary and to be determined by game designers and community discussion

Original Universe / Heavy Server Load? Too Many People?
« on: August 11, 2015, 05:36:59 PM »
Today, the second day in a row, I have experienced the following issue. Was wondering if anyone else has experienced it as well and why BFG does not have something posted on the boards about it. If it has not been reported yet, then maybe we should flood their ticketing system with request for action to resolve.

Original Universe / The "Pay it Forward" Wars
« on: March 07, 2015, 04:16:03 PM »
I am starting to see a trend in SFCO ... beyond Z-fleet NPC Hunting, the increase in veteran players returning from the other 'flash in the pan' UNI's, and the Fabulous Tourney's sparking renewed interest in PvP play (TY Raymond for Organizing, and BFG for the prizes).

Alright, here is what I am seeing, anyone chime in if you see it too ...

Player accounts(3895 to 300 in Overall Rank), in perpetual diplomacy mode, suddenly, in a burst of increased fleet points(FP), resource spent points(RSP), crew points(CP), defense points(DP)-(-in other words things that require massive amounts of resources in exchange for very little time investment), moving very rapidly into the top 100-300 ranks

SO ...

What is the strategy used by these accounts, with a 25-75% resource tax, inability to attack - ANYTHING, and only the inane d-mode missions -also taxed at 25-75%, to reach such amazing increases in their ranking points?

May I suggest a look at one of the Daily Quest that pop up every so often, The "Pay It Forward" Quest.

It is within this idea of sending resources to a lower-ranked account that one can see the actual strategy.

With NPC Hauls in the trillions, there is a glut of resources floating around in the top 100-300 Ranked accounts. These accounts are challenging to attack and relieve of these resources because of the supporting fleets, defenses that protect them, and the players that manage them.

BUT ...

What if one of them, or several of them, started dumping massive amounts of resources on lower-ranked Buddy's?

It's not against the rules to help out a player lower than you. It's not pushing. It's actually encouraged by BFG with the in game Daily Quest.

What would you end up with?

The lower-ranked account would end up with end up with a Higher Overall rank due to RSP, FP, DP, and CP but would have disproportionally lower DSP(-in comparison with RSP/FP) and RP(-time dependant).

DSP would eventually catch up once the account has processed the "Gifted" resources and exits diplomacy mode to become active. Research, however, is still time dependant and will be limited by the age of the account and the time since creation.

So Welcome to the "Pay It Forward" Wars as top-ranked accounts flood the lower-ranked ones with their opulent over-abundance.

It remains yet to be seen if the lower-ranked accounts can hold on to what they have been gifted ....

Feature Suggestions / Revamp the Alliance war system
« on: February 20, 2014, 12:53:49 AM »
NPC's have made war irrelevant.

You can achieve #1 without ever going to war, just hit NPCs all day long and build a bigger fleet. Why would anyone WANT to go to war ... anymore.

The War system is antiquated and unrewarding to an alliance, especially if it means you lose your hard earned NPC Bashing Fleet.

I feel we need to make War relevant to the game again.

A suggestion may be ...

A perk for every Winning war minus lost wars to equal 1% ship speed or AWS increase in fleets. Draws do not count.

Just putting this out there because very few alliances seem eager to go to war anymore.

Edit: This would apply to all members IN the alliance.

Original Universe / Based Ωn vs B.A.D.
« on: January 21, 2014, 02:04:34 AM »
Sensors indicate wave after wave of incoming planetary missiles devastating ground defenses, even after they are molten pools of slag 15 times removed.  Fleets scream in on the defenseless planetoid and snuff the power collection satellites in an instant and collect the scant resources that have been automatically mined by the programmed droids, then silence.

"The Darkness" turns a processors over to data collection of the enemy and the database of red locations expands to include another 350 possible targets, 22 entities, and another alliance in a widening offensive against the expansion of darkness.

Original Universe / In the Darkness one can see a Sea of Red ....
« on: September 18, 2013, 12:22:05 AM »
It is the Dark Sphere's objective and our endeavor to elevate Alliance vs Alliance conflict as a Force majeure in SFCO.

You can safely hunt the Seekers, Krug, and Urcath with impunity, and with little risk, till the designer pulls the plug and we all go the way of a fleeting boson particle, all you want. Welcome to Farmville SFCO.

You can suck dry the resources on inactive colonies, bash the defenses to a pulp, and destroy the meager fleets, silent in their orbits, till they too are vanished in the darkness of forgetfulness. On March 27, 2013 there were over 7687 player accounts in SFCO ... now there are 5939. Welcome to the death of riveting interest.

You can even pursue narcissistic Player vs Player attacks to the exclusion of any alliance, buddy, or NAP, feeling powerful in your triumph over a single active target ... a single active target ... unless they pop neutrality, fleet resource save, or fail to brave the darkness by even trying coming out of diplomacy protection

But in the darkness, using these playing styles, you will never see red.

Who of you can realize that war is the only true test of an alliance bending the universe to it's will. It test the co-operative resources, intelligence gathering apparatus, and recuperative skills of the collective.

But how much more intense is the play when an alliance is hunted by another, by two other, by as many alliances that are willing to wage war against one or many ... at the same time.

You can argue for the conservative one war at a time aspect as much as you want, it is not the same. You limit yourselves, restrict your choices, and once done have to look for something else to bide your time ... to capture your interest.

You can stress that the new players get hammered, the marginal players get hammered, that the alliance gets hammered, it does not matter, for as the US Marines are want to say, "Adapt, Improvise, and Overcome", We all know there is a learning curve, you learn and excel or you do not and fade away. It is the law of the jungle out there in the darkness. It is why there will always be training alliances for those that need to get up to speed, and we acknowledge their need and accept their unwillingness to expose those younglings or inexperienced to strife and risk, until those players grow bored and abandon the game or move on to an alliance that fills their need for wanton pillaging and destruction. We will still send them war request to test if they have grown up to be feeders or still remain chum.

The Dark Sphere's last galactic War netted wins and losses for both sides of the conflicts, millions in focused PvP DSP, Debris fields galore, Missile exchanges to the exhaustion of all available resources scouring colony surfaces down to planetary mantles of bare rock, and pillaging runs there after for even the last 1000 ore ... just to get those last few victory points, to get a win. It took time, takes time, sometimes months to win some wars. Hell we still have one war which still continues from that great conflict and clash of titans. It was and still is the most exiting event to happen with the Dark Sphere and hopefully with each of the engaged alliances as well.

Simultaneous wars provide thousands of ripe red targets to focus your energies on, and yes we still hunt NPC's, inactive's, and single targets, if that's all we can hit. We do have to replace ships, increase resource hording and hydro conversion, and yes if you must, replace planetary defenses at the end of the day. To do anything less is a fools errand and a ticket to despair as you lose the ability to do anything satisfactorily.

We purposely keep the victory points to 1 million so that the wars can be quick ... or long ... depending on the alliances ability to avoid attack or utilize strategy. Instances do occur where opportunity presents a gem of a hit. Other times each side is so well versed in play that sat bashing, pillaging, and overnight builds are the only way to win.

We do not enable diplomacy or inactive's in our request. We feel that forcing a player to be active against their will is fascist and overbearing and should one lose interest in the game then neither side should be penalized for that players lack of interest.

We Welcome and honor those that engage in the true test of an alliance's cohesion. We seek those who would wage war for the record, Win ... or  ... lose

We seek those that would see a Sea of Red.

Original Universe / 2nd SFCO Galactic War

The Dark Sphere calls out to the darkness looking for those who would see red.

Who among the top 100 Alliances are willing to seek and be sought?

Those of you who blindlessly feed on the mind numbing minutia of NPC Farming, Inactive bashing, and randomn local active hits need not reply. We do not seek such weak minded, unskilled conflict with alliances of that caliber. You can simply decline our request. We will know who you are in the darkness and consider you secondary targets of opportunity, as training sessions on our way to hit real targets.

Who of you can avoid the eyeless stare from out of the darkness.

****************************************************************

A War is what we seek with all of you ... against the Darkness.

We seek to disturb the ether.

Same as the last Great Expansion of Red.

1 million victory points, no inactives, no diplomacy percentage.

First alliance to get pure pillage and DSP victory points on each other.

*****************************************************************

It's an all or nothing deal, Nuclear feasting and Planet scouring are acceptable, even though they gain no direct victory points. They do enable easy pillaging, if you leave your resources lay for too long or fail to provide for transport.

Planet moving, MACing, and Heph Raids are to be expected. All tactics employable .... within the rules of the conflict.

P mode is acceptable although it increases the length of the war. The more targets in diplomacy mode likewise increases the time of any conflict, limiting available active targets.

We hold no time limit to any conflict regardless of how long it takes for the victory counter to increase. Someone will ALWAYS be active in the darkness. We will continue until the victory counter is filled or one our alliances is disbanded, which ever comes first.

In the last Great Expansion, 9 accepted from the top 100, some of them multiple times. It generated over 3000 simultaneous red targets in the darkness to light our way ... to focus our time. Time to Play with you ... exclusively

*****************************************************************

So ... Who wants ...

A little hide and seek with eyes wide open in the darkness of the all consuming hunt.

A Hunt with the 'One hit Wonder' or the slow methodical attrition of 'The War of a Thousand Slashes'.

Which of you have the patience to hunt red actives,
to find when the watcher is not watching,
to play with the mind of the mindless,
to know the Redness in the Dark ...

We are the Dark Sphere. We are the War Alliance of Darkness.

The darkness is all around and we ... are at its center.

Who are you?

****************************************************************

Engage us or cower on bent knee to the darkness that is controlling you, forcing you to decide!
