Well, just so you're aware, there were scripts (like SFCstats) that were written such that the information can be searched.

For example, one script automatically saves all the planet names and owner names into a database while the player is scanning across the various systems.  If that information is shared across several players (of an alliance, for example), then other people can benefit from the manual efforts of a few.

Actually, from what I've seen of my friend's oracle, you can oracle anyone ... even people on vacation.  My friend is constantly griping about "darn it, I can oracle this guy who's (vn) ... but that doesn't really make much sense."

You can even oracle someone who's  (N) ... so beware the newbie who's may be getting paid to keep an eye on you!

This is the part of the game that bugs me.

There's currently no ABMs that can defend a moon.  So the defenses on the moon are essentially a sitting duck for IBM-strikes.

Do a structured series of trades.  I'm pretty sure this method is legal, and has been talked about in these forums before.  It would be nice if Matt replies and approves the examples given below.


For example:

You trade: 8000k Ore
You receive: 4000k  Crystal
+
You trade: 4000k Crystal
You receive: 6000k Ore

The net effect of those two trades is that you've given away 2000k Ore.  (The downside is that both of you will be spending hydrogen to get this done).


Another example

You trade: 3000k Crystal
You receive: 2000k Hydrogen
+
You trade: 2000k Hydrogen
You receive: 2000k Crystal

Net effect:  you gave away 1000k Crystal.

Bingo.  I think that's exactly what BFG was trying to do.


It's kinda funny though ... a newbie gets his 2 Athenas, and they're moving a lot slower than his Artemis or Apollo raiding fleet ... so he ends up getting ninja'd.

Heya Czer!  I know you've read the Flagship/Hero idea (something I started building on, and then many people have made adjustments to it.)  For those who haven't read it yet, you'll find a link in Sid's reply above, or in my signature below.


The advantage to the Flagship/Hero idea is that the "capitol ship" is not a "new ship" ... it's just an improved version of the existing ship(s).  So, there wouldn't be any need to "build components" and put them together like lego blocks.

Well, if the game was being played as a "single player game" where the only source of resources was your mines and your missions, then I would agree with you.

However, this is a multi-player game.  So you're technically competing against other players (and/or working with other players).

And some players have a philosophy of:  if I can take my enemy's resources away, the fact that their growth is crippled will be worth the effort ... and perhaps they'll stop playing and I'll have another inactive planet(s) that I can farm.

Now ... I'm not saying that's my philosophy (and it isn't) ... but I just want to bring up that there are people who play the game that way.

Hmmm ... just wondering if there are any additional comments based on the new version (the one that LunarAvenger suggested, and I've now adopted).

The purpose/description stays the same:
-- to attack inactives
-- to attack weakly guarded planets

It's definitely not a replacement for the Artemis fodder (Artemis is still a lot cheaper, and provides better armor/weapons and fuel consumption)

But it's still definitely an extremely fast raiding ship.

When you unlock it at Warp 1, it goes at 32500 speed
In Extreme, That's 16.5 minutes to attack a planet in-system
Or about 30 minutes to attack planets within 8 systems

When you get it to Warp 8, it goes at 85000 speed
In Extreme, That's 10 minutes to attack a planet in-system
Or about 20 minutes to attack planets within 8 systems
Or about 45 minutes to attack a neighboring galaxy
