Trading Post / Re: Have BILLIONS in Ore to trade for Hydro
« on: October 16, 2013, 11:04:05 PM »
I'd give you 1,000,000,000,000 (1 trillion) hydro if you could return 5 trillion Ore and 3 trillion crystal...but, I've got a feeling that's not going to happen.

Great hit guys, and props to Sky Monkey for the blind GD and to both Granny and Sky for their great gamesmanship/attitude.

Conquest Universe / Re: Question about the "Soft Cap"
« on: July 03, 2013, 03:31:52 PM »
Like a test from BFG,

Chief SWE: "Hey, let's find out how much money they'll spend on credits if we build a super-fast universe with plentiful resources to build trillions in ships in the first 12 weeks...and, don't put any hydro in it!"

Team: "Hahahahahahahahaha, great idea, we'll get it implemented tomorrow....hey, do you think we ought to put in that new battle algorithm too?"

Director: "Sure, why not?"

I sneeze out more than 200k hydro a day, so it doesn't matter what level of hydro synth you have now...

Thanks for the correction Zarchne, I made the same mistake of thinking (if you can call it that ;) ) that hydrogen didn't count towards DSP...

I think it was right when T2 came out that BFG adjusted the Curetes, they (BFG) also introduced the Erebus and Moros, which are significant in any battle with Curetes in it.

For example, take the lowly Erebus (6.75 RSP) and match it in equal numbers (assuming equal WAS) and you'll see that the Erebus wins with an approximate 50% loss to the Curetes' 100% loss. RSP vs. RSP, its not even a contest, 200k Erebus vs. 96.5k Curetes = 3.7% Erebus loss to the Curetes 100% loss.

Likewise, with the Moros; RSP vs. RSP, 200k Curetes vs. 57.2k Moros sees a 100% loss for the Curetes vs. a negligible loss of Moros (-4 = approx. 0).

If I were asked (granted, I wasn't), I'd advise that people avoid adding the Curetes to any battle where there are significant Erebus or Moros, even in the presence of ships that have rf vs. Erebus and Moros, they still seem highly attracted to the Curetes and tend to make a mess out of them.

The worst part of the Curetes is that they tend to be useful early on, but later they are nothing but a huge hydro drain to make as "fodder" that don't contribute much (4k) to DSP. Look at the battle above, 29 billion hydro lost between them for just the Curetes and they got 3.6m & 8.0m DSP from that. Believe me when I say that the hydro would have been better spent to pay for launching half as many Curetes and an equal amount (RSP-wise) of Athenas (233,333) into that battle instead.

Matt,

I couldn't find that. A search revealed this as the closest relevant statement (again, emphasis mine);

Quote
The process is slow and energy intensive, making hydrogen one of the most valuable resources in the universe.

« on: June 18, 2013, 02:36:14 PM »
According to the wiki (emphasis mine);

Quote
Hydrogen is a chemical element with chemical symbol H and atomic number 1. With an atomic weight of 1.00794 u (u for hydrogen-1), hydrogen is the lightest element and its monatomic form (H1) is the most abundant chemical substance, constituting roughly 75% of the Universe's baryonic mass.[/i](7)(note 1) Non-remnant stars are mainly composed of hydrogen in its plasma state.

Considering it is the, "most abundant...substance" in the universe, how about BFG make it more readily available? Also, if an opposing NPC fleet is fairly large, why *wouldn't it* have a huge supply of fuel?

You're killing it KJU & Muon. Very nice hit!

Conquest Universe / Re: Large battle DISASTER Algorothim

Agreed. New ships wouldn't unbalance the x2 universe as much as the new code seems to have.

I think that the only way that BFG comes back from the brink is to kill their cashcow and start putting (more) hydro on NPCs/territories to keep the players' fleets afloat, and I seriously doubt that will happen. I don't have the biggest fleet in Conquest but it is already a ridiculous proposition to go out of system on a hit, and  like most players, I probably launch on 8-10 and actually get a hit on 1. For each miss, expending 100s of millions of hydro just isn't sustainable. I can easily imagine seeing a time in the near future where big hits will occur because the opponent can't afford to do a FRS overnight and have no credits for a neutrality marker...

My ears were burning, I had to look around and find where people were whispering "Geministar..."  ;D

I *am* a nice guy, ask anyone, well...except my wife, she'd say I'm an arrogant @-hole, but she loves me anyway. LOL!

Nice hit Vas. I hate to see a new member get hit, but he'll rebuild quickly enough.
