If OM sees this, do you know if you will make an off-facebook version like with SFC? I cannot really play facebook games from work, plus it is so slow on FB.

Why is it dependent on Facebook?

While I don't know that this specific problem is going to be addressed, war changes are coming soon. I think you will be pleased.
Will there be any of us left playing then, that actually care about the game ?

Good constructive response. Gives OM something to work with....

This is an impossible battle to win. Recoding the game puts the advantage in the coder's court. Those with coding skills will have their scripts rewritten within 24hrs of the changes going live which will leave everyone else in the dirt. Great idea if you want to hand the advantage over to players who write their own scripts. The only FAIR way to go is give everyone the same advantages and access to information and leave it that way.
That's actually not true, IMO. Coders will always have some advantage no matter what you do, so you have to just accept that and try your best to minimize it. But giving everyone equal access to code or information simply gives the coders new problems to solve in order to give themselves an unfair advantage.

The best policy is to continue to try to make it difficult for coders. Otherwise you end up with a game like TW2002 where it's a contest of scripters, best script wins.

hehehe... Just code the game so it can only be played with IE 7

No self respecting coder would be able to do a thing!

Not experienced with planet moving...

So you cannot harvest for 24 hours...can you FRS? Or are you a sitting duck for 24 hours?

Can you have one of these AND a heph?

I do not believe these numbers are meant to relect how many are CURRENTLY playing, just how many unique accounts have been registered from game open (x+1). It certainly IMPLIES that many are curretnly playing, but technically not a lie.

Are you proposing that if a player leaves the game everybody except his alliance should be permitted to attack him? Or everybody except his alliance and buddies (because he may have told them he was quitting too)? Because somehow if the alliance or buddies attack him when he goes (i) it is pushing, but not if others attack him?

I'm just a little confused on how you want us to call it pushing because someone says goodbye to their Alliance or Buddies before they quit playing.

Actually, I would not be against a mechanics change that would prevent alliance members from attacking other alliance members. It seems obvious to me that you should not be attacking someone with the same tag. In this scenario, if person A from the BFG alliance wanted to attack person B from the BFG alliance (for whatever reason), then person B would have to drop the BFG alliance tag first, thus giving everyone a bit more chance at getting the fleet (when they see the tag drop). Perhaps even a 1 hour cool down?

It would not prevent pushing when players quit but it might give nearby players more of a shot at the quitting players toys, thus satsifying the requirement that the ships are available for all to attack.

eally I am just happy that we have a rule we can understand. There is no grey area where one person gets in trouble for nuking and another does not. No one will get defenses back because the nuking was not legal.

So OtherMatt,   You mentioned talking to the community more about what BFG has done and may do. Will we be given more information about what new features are coming out? In my time here, most new features just appeared out of the blue.

And we have heard about a "Beta universe" where new code is tested before going live. What about opening up the Beta universe for short campaigns, to try out the code and help bug check it?

Fair enough but not eveything has a defence  in this game ... Eg Oracle locking...whe. You are locked you are locked ..... No way out really....

But there are many tactics to avoid an Oracle lock, so no comparison. Well, and there ARE defenses to an Oracle lock...GD for one.

However in the spirit of a sutiable defence it could be you are limited to A set number in your attack fleet and have litte in armour so are susceptible to missiles as per arties...

I think the thing is ..if the concept of a ship type is seen as useful then those more into stats etc than me could evolve a suitable defence.

I see no value in a stealth ship if your fleet size is restricted or has no armor. Basically, in balancing the new feature you have stripped its usefulness.

I am not trying to be a negative nelly, rude or anything else. Just looking for the thoughts behind the idea.

I am sure someone can work out some sensible techs but i would like to see 2 different , but similar , ships.. Base them on the US stealthfighter and Stealthbomber...

Ssomething that remains cloaked until 10 minutes out  then it becomes visible... So unlikely to be caught in a ninja gd ..

What would balance this? What would be the defense against this?

Rank appears to be whatever your alliance determines it to be, and not something set by BFG.

Making that publicly viewable could be insteresting. Which alliance will be the first to get a nasty gram from BFG forcing them to change their alliance ranks?

Even better...which alliance will run out and change their ranks so that they are offensive, dirty or whatever?
