A.I. 13 is so expensive i doubt anyone would go for it. Some people have 12, but I doubt anyone has 13.

also FYI if you leave your computer online say at night on your homeworld page, the (*) never goes away... a nice trick i use

You have to load a page to get the (*) to appear. If you don't click on anything your activity will go away in 15 minutes.

Yep. The * indicates activity at the planet. It does not indicate an online user. Any activity counts, including probes and attacks.

If you probe or attack, the (*) doesn't appear until the probes or attack reaches the planet I believe.

Would be great if there was a built in feature that can do the following.

Send a SMS and/or Email message depending on specified activity:
Examples:
- When probed
- When under attack

It's already hard enough to tag people. If this was put into effect nobody would ever be able to attack anyone again, since they would all be alerted and fleetsave.

I would like an e-mail or SMS when I get a message from a user though.

That would still make it less profitable to raid people, and inactives would only last for about a day or so, then they would have no mines (or PLANETS) for us to raid.

I would be really happy if people would leave their fleets of 40 Poseidons and 20 Athenas "guarding" their planets every night. I would have 300,000 destroyed ship points instead of only 7000-8000. Oh yeah, I would also have about 200 planets (which would all be stolen inmmediatly!)

If buildings were destroyable there would be no one left to raid in all 72 galaxies in about a week. It takes a lot less time to destroy 20 levels of mines than it does to rebuild them.

So you're saying that unless you have 400 Prometheus at every planet you are guarenteed to lose all of them? Everyone can lose their fleet/defenses to someone.

So how will you protect your planets at night when you fleetsave?

This would just allow the people with the biggest fleets to go around and capture everyones colonies. Noobs would be conquered the second they left (n) staus and have all their planet's stolen. No one would be able to start the game. If your fleet is completely destroyed, there is no way to get ANY resources besides mines, which you would have 0 of, since the person that attacked you would have all your planets.

Imagine if you could for a moment, what it would actually be like to be able to destroy buildings. Imagine what that would do to inactive raiding? Raid an inactive once, bam, no more buildings=no more resources from them. Ever.

The purpose of this game is to steal people's resources. Fleets are just an obstacle to that goal. If you attacked a player and destroyed all their buildings/ stole all their planets, that would be the end of the game for them, since it would be impossible to rebuild since you can't fleetsave your planets at night. All your planets could be stolen while you sleep.

I can imagine that after you lose all your planets, it would be impossible to ever gain another one that wasn't immediatly stolen.

I like the idea of building for resources spent points. I'd also like to make most of my resources from raiding inactives and mining, since I'm getting sick of raiding people and having to check all the time if they came online and fleetsaved.

I can build a lot of Hades for the costs of some mines, and I dont build defenses at all.

I'm experimenting with a colony that only does Crystal and Hydro. I don't know how good it's going to work though. I might just upgrade all my mines because I am incapable of getting resources any other way. I've only had 4-5 raids out of 300-400 that have netted over 40k resources. Yeah, it's pathetic.

Yeah, the ROI of crystal 19 is 14 days or something, but the actual mine produces enough to pay for the upgrade in only 3 days.

I do use max droids, since they are basically free resources!

I think the solar is what kills the most though, since it doesn't pay for itself at all.

General Starfleet Discussion / Max mine levels?
« on: December 19, 2009, 05:03:03 AM »
So I have to ask. What do players usually put as their max mine levels? I'm trying 20-21/18-19/15 on all of my colonies, powered with a level 21 solar, a level 9 reactor, and 2-3 solar sats.

Basically what i'm asking is is there a point where the cost of the mine is more than the mine can produce in a reasonable amount of time to pay for itself?

I don't know if this was covered already, but I tried the "search" function and couldn't find anything.

so um... Artemis or Apollo for fodder?

Artemis, since Hades rapidfire on Apollos. That's my take on it at least. I'm sure others use Apollos though.
