Alliances / Re: Legion no more?
« on: December 28, 2015, 08:07:55 PM »
This is such an old thread. I wrote the message that brought all the best legion players to Nexus (The platypus, according to Darwin, is evidence that God has a sense of humour.) a long time ago. We were ranked very well back then as an alliance, 4-6 I think. Seems to have died now.

Anyone from Nexus still play? Is the same universe still going from back in 2011 when I left this game before?

I would imagine this would fall on deaf ears as it's been 4 years but you never know...

Its true that its stupid though. Rank 22 attacking rank 22000 or something? That's stupidly unfair.

I see a lot of other players here offering their great advice on 'how to survive' but fact is if you got wiped out that early on what are the chances you're gonna keep playing? its not exactly the most straight forward game and there is no 'practise mode'. If it was that easy to learn and do what you're all telling him too then the game wouldn't be dying would it.

Personally I think it was a bit of a stujpid idea to start uni 2 in the first palce since that completely screws over uni 1,buit aside from that, if it were to be fixed there needs to be some extra rule that allows players like this to compete with other places of their rank before they can get picked off by anyone and everyone. A 100k-200k overall rank abrrier maybe? Who knows.

Fact is you can't blame the newer players for not being skilled enough to play if that is actually killing the gameoff, that doesn't work unless you want no game to play at all.

How much profit did you actually make from that?? Looks like you got some really heavy losses...

Original Universe / Re: Riddle Me This - 7.3M average income/day
« on: May 24, 2010, 06:09:52 PM »
Can see what you mean, when i use all my slots to raid and take all my mine income can probably net about 8mil/9mil a day average, but this took several months to build up too..

Some people do just get a lot of kills though. Raiding, 7-8mil/day from mines and a few 1mil + kills per day is easy enough if you already have the resources. Though it definitely seems like it would need to be a lot higher then that to be feasible.

I think its a perfectly legit and pretty cool tactic

I dont think its going too far.. when you do this to an alliance member, thats going to far.

But everything else is fair game tbh :P

^^^ Like this idea.

Just before reading that post I was thinking to myself.. well the only ship that should be able to destroy it is the zeus...

Something along those lines would actually make it useable.

it took that many attackers to defeat that small fleet?!?!?!   and you are bragging about it?!?!?!?

If you read the post properly you would see that there was a group defend there that recalled just before our attack was due to hit, with the result being the destruction of Goat's fleet with next to no losses.

Correct about the timezones.. it was rather disappointing to discover, but ah well. Seemed the case for most of your local players actually... except they proved much more profitable targets then you. That's why you've been untouched up until now.

Running away is part of the tactics!! [= never easy to defend against fleets from 5 players! I cannot honestly say I expected as many enemy ships to turn up as did.. was a bit of a surprise.

But to be fair to that 'scare' point if you guys did not run away I think I would have hit most of your fleets several times over (: except Stella's and yours, both for different reasons. Part of the game.. wouldn't consider it a success. Im fairly sure it cost your 5 fleets more than it did my single fleet in hydrogen.

As for the losses... everyone makes mistakes, not everyone's at the computer all the time.. I could ask why you targeted my ABMs several times with IPBMs? I just kept building ABMs because you kept shooting IPBMs I couldn't for the life of me work out why..

Despite our losses down there, we have taken more from you. Personally I've made over 20million resources in the past few weeks from my time in that position and we now have a local moon.. I'd consider that a successful operation, be there a fair amount of luck involved or not (:

I agree with Noops.. its silly to think that this planet-sized ship would be powered by the same fuel as everything else, it definitely should have some kind of reactor.

I still think it should have a built in 'solar sat' battery and hydro synth.

The MASSIVE problem about it being so delicate though is that its shield cannot be upped much more. Its already invulnerable to everything except proms, and a bit higher and itll be immune against them too.

I support this, really do need some kind of ship to fulfil this role, make it to slow to attack with.

I see it as a use but not an effective one.

The Hep is fine as it is, if you use it right, think of it as a long range supply ship, your fleets are 5 - 10 galaxies away from your shipyards and research

You fill the thing up with resources from your fleet

Send it back over a 2 week flight, build more fleet when it arrives etc.. then send it to meet up with your fleet 2 weeks down the line, and repeat this process..

used this way it is perfect, and cannot be hit...

That doesn't prove the heph is useful its just finding an excuse to use it effectivly, and im not even sure that hat is, if you send any fleet on 10% (still faster then heph) it needs to be something crazy like 3000 battleships before its cheaper. And if you use hercs instead of heph they can be used for raiding also, dual purpose. You would not spend 50 million resources on a transport.

I think this idea is great, the hepha has been a big let down but these attack bases would really encourage some more active gameplay.

Forgetting all this rapid-fire none-sense, Ares can beat Athena and Hades down easily, at matching techs the Hades doesn't even do any noticeable damage to it because of its much higher shield rating.

I did see someone suggest maybe it should get some more cargo capacity. I like this idea. Ares is a 'bomber' but it isn't small. With all that defense-stopping ability I think this should be the case, maybe 10k or so storage?
