Original Universe / I Declare War on EVERYONE!
« on: August 18, 2010, 11:54:37 AM »
So, now that I'm selling my X account and retiring, I might as well retire my O account as well. I've been in D for 5 months to focus on Extreme.

I withdrew from UF6 to create my new alliance, Church of the Dom Beaver (Tag: Doombvr). I'm declaring war on everyone. As in the entire universe.

I've already started sending out war requests. Should you receive a war request from us, accept it. If you declare war on us, we'll accept it. I want to war with the entire universe!

Feel free to join DoomBvr if you wish as well. I'll accept anyone. As long as you can handle the fact that I'm declaring war on every alliance I can find. I'm in D and retiring anyway, doesn't matter to me.

DEATH TO ALL YOU HEREITICAL APOSTATE SCUM! :D

Sorry for the repost, but since it's now Monday morning and people are starting to log on in the office, I decided it'd be best to start a new thread since I forgot to put the Ebay link initially in my first one.

This account is outstandingly balanced between large fleet and high mines and is well positioned to move quickly up in rank. I haven’t been as active this summer in attacking and rank reflects that; I’ve been focusing on big hits and not raiding constantly. High mine production ensures account growth even in slow raiding periods and large fleet ensures ability to cut a swath through the universe. Four warpgates provide ability to quickly move ships for fresh hunting grounds and the Hephaestus provides the ability to forward-deploy your fleet anywhere in the SFCX universe.

Account Highlights:

Deployed Hephaestus with (currently) 3 million hydro and a large fleet embarked, plus a defensive screen of two Zeus and 14k Artemis

Acct ranking of: Overall 90 Destroyed Ships 83 Fleet 71 Resources Spent 150 as of 8/14/2010

Four Moons with Oracles and Jumpgates

Core system with four highly developed planets for rapid resource pooling

Warp 9, A/S 14 Weapons 13, Esp 14

Large resource reserve currently provides ability to do extensive research/mine/fleet upgrades of your own once account purchased. I've currently got about 20 mil in resources (approx 6 mil ore, 8 mil crystal, 5 mil hydro) in reserve for you to use to expand mines, do weapons 14 or warp 10, or build more ships.

What other top players have to say about this account:

Quote from: "BrianC"
While I do not support selling or buying accounts, if I or anyone else were to look into buying one, I'd say Poetic's account is probably the most well rounded account in Extreme.

Good luck.

Quote from: "Bleys"
Good luck, hope you get a good price, its a solid account. You need to bite the bullet and spread out a couple of those "feeder" planets, but other than that ... all good.

Feature Suggestions / The "Like, OMG!" Class Superdreadnought
« on: August 13, 2010, 02:48:05 AM »
I've talked about this, but never actually put forth the proposal.

Name of Ship/Defense: "Like, OMG!" Class Self-Harvesting Superdreadnought
Description: A new ship between Prom and Zeus, the Like, OMG! Class is the ultimate in SFC ship technology. It's amazing! It's totally balanced, but will transform the SFC universe by becoming, like, the most awesomest ship ever!

Not only does it RF everything, but it can harvest debris as well up to the limit of its cargo capacity. Including its own battles, so no more stolen debris fields!

Construction Cost: 100000 Ore, 50000 Crystal, 15000 Hydrogen
Hull Integrity: 100 million
Weapon Power: 10000
Shield Power: 50000

Heph x2
Zeus x5
Prom x10

I was actually trying to catch a 60-mil DF fleet here, but the target had the poor form to have decided to fleetsave for once when my Heph arrived, and not show up for several hours.

This was not far from one of my moons, though, and my oracle caught a Zeus deploying from a planet...to the same planet. No supporting fleet; a quick probe showed only light defenses and no fleet on-planet. Checked his other planets (thanks to Jacq AKA Ruthless* for the intel) and all his activity counters were gone or near gone.

Never thought he'd be dumb enough to let the Zeus deploy complete after I launched, but I figured it was worth a try. Four hours later, he still hasn't come online. I've already scooped the debris, recalled the harvs to my Heph, deployed the resources to my nearest foundry, and sent my Heph away and still not online.

Not a huge hit, but I like posting my Zeus kills. And this one cost me a little bit...got off light in round 2, but the RF hurt in rounds 1 and 3.

Feature Suggestions / New SFC Universe Ideas...
« on: August 11, 2010, 11:40:56 PM »
With all the talk of a possible new universe in September for the back to school rush, what kinds of features would you like to see in a new "third" universe?

These are all ideas to ponder, or feel free to add your own. Many of them are inspired by various "special" Ogame unis. I don't necessarily like some of these, but wanted to present them as possibilities.

Speed:
1x?
1.5x?
2x?
3x?
5x?

Mine production tweaked such as in Mafia Boss while travel times are the same? Adjustments to speeds of various ships?

No Group Attack/Defend? Or removal of the GA/GD limits?

30% debris to DF? 40%? 50%? Destroyed Defenses to DF?

No Hephaestus? More than one Hephaestus? No ships allowed to accompany Gaias (Ogame does this, eliminates 'colony drop' attacks)? Destroyable moons? Harvests visible to Oracles? Recalls visible to Oracles? Colonization visible to Oracles? No Oracles? Warpgates that can transport resources? No warpgates? Cheaper moonshots? Everyone gets a moon to start with? No moons?

No alliances?

No bashing limits? More stringent bashing limits? No NAPs? No wars?

More colonies? Less?

Other ideas?

I'd love to see a 2-3x speed universe with 40% debris to DF instead of 30%. I'd also love to see a starting number of 3 colonies and you have to earn more through research. I'd like to see harvests visible to the oracle, but as a counterbalance everyone gets ONE moon to start, on their homeworld. They have to earn more. I'd also like to see everyone start out with one Dionysus for harvest saves. If it's destroyed, you get another one automatically, but you can't build more until you research the appropriate techs. That plus the "free moon" will eliminate most people bitching about harvests being visible.

Battle Reports / AWH [UF6] vs Reincor [xXx]- 38 mil DF + Turtle Busted
« on: August 09, 2010, 02:08:51 AM »
So I had my Heph roaming around, finding pockets of USCX (the alliance we're currently at war with) and smashing them, when I came across a tasty morsel. He wasn't USCX, but he definitely helped fund the war effort against him.

Nailing this guy right under the oracle of one of USCX's highest ranking players made it even more sweet.

Planet Outpost [x:xxx:x] has:

RESOURCES:
* ore: 218,236
* crystal: 113,771
* hydrogen: 1,123,248

REINCOR'S SHIPS:
* Hermes Class Probe: 1,167
* Helios Class Solar Satellite: 21
* Artemis Class Fighter: 2,884
* Atlas Class Cargo: 291
* Apollo Class Fighter: 697
* Hercules Class Cargo: 237
* Poseidon Class Cruiser: 251
* Athena Class Battleship: 505
* Ares Class Bomber: 89
* Hades Class Battleship: 201
* Prometheus Class Destroyer: 133

DEFENSES:
* Missile Battery: 2,633
* Laser Cannon: 4,017
* Pulse Cannon: 101
* Particle Cannon: 59
* Anti-Ballistic Missile: 40
* Decoy: 1
* Gauss Cannon: 184
* Large Decoy: 1
* Plasma Cannon: 58

Not the biggest turtle I've seen, but pretty damn impressive. Unfortunately, Fleetsave>Turtle Shell. 15k Artemis will break through any turtle if there's a big enough fleet behind it to pay for them. Not a bad defense. Well balanced and it killed 7k arties. But I still profited a good bit and the arties have already been replaced.

Full battle report after the screen shots.

Description: The Odysseus is designed to balance out the use of heavy Artemis/fodder screens (especially in major battles such as Hephaestus attacks). With the Artemis screen becoming extremely popular in SFC, I developed the Odysseus  to provide a ship that has high RF on Artemis while being far more survivable than Poseidon in battles with large numbers of Hades and/or Zeus. Its heavier shields and armor are balanced by being far slower and more fuel-intensive, meaning that it is best suited for use as part of a balanced Prometheus-based fleet.

Construction Cost: 55000 Ore, 35000 Crystal, 15000 Hydrogen

Hull Integrity: 9000 (Ore Cost + Crystal Cost/10)
Weapon Power: 600
Shield Power: 500

Rapid-fire For + Values [Good Against]:
Artemis x8
Atlas x5
Charon x5
Hermesx5
Solar Satellite x5

Rapid-fire Against + Values [Bad Against]:
Prometheus x2
Zeus x10

Cargo Capacity: 2000
Fuel Consumption[In Hydrogen]: 1000
Base Speed: 5000
Engine Type [Jet, Pulse, Warp]: Warp

Building and Research Requirements:
Warp 7
Shipyard 9
Particle 7
Weapons 8

Backstory:

With the increasing use of fodder swarms to protect battle fleets, tacticians recognized that the venerable Poseidon-class cruiser was simply outclassed in major fleet actions in the modern day combat environment. The Poseidon’s speed still made it highly useful for fast raids and defensive deployment to protect allies, but its vulnerability to Hades and other large warships made it a liability. However, many fleet commanders had no other choice but to include large Poseidon components in their fleets to combat the massive numbers of Artemis employed as screen for larger ships.

Scientists developed the Odysseus-class Battlecruiser as an answer to the call for a more survivable ship to help clear defensive screens in major fleet actions. Heavily armed and armored like a battleship, the Odysseus eschewed the ‘big guns’ of other battleships in favor of an extensive battery of lighter weaponry to rapidly clear Artemis swarms and allow its compatriots to engage the enemy battle-line. While far slower and more fuel-intensive than the Poseidon-class and thereby ill-suited for employment except as part of a balanced combat fleet, the Odysseus rapidly became a favored ship for deployment with heavy Prometheus/Ares battle lines and a favorite of commanders across the universe.

Discussion:

This ship is designed to ideally be unlocked after the Prometheus-class, but is not the super-ship often proposed to fill the gap between Prom and Zeus. Rather, this is a ship designed for late-game battles between major fleets with heavy Artemis screens. It is designed as an answer to the deployment of tens of thousands of Artemis with Zeus/Hephaestus-based fleets; Poseidons get slaughtered by Hephaestus-defense screens with large numbers of Zeus (as many people are using fleets of Zeus + Artemis to defend their Hephaestus), and this is a ship that can survive in these types of environment and rapidly clear Artemis. As such, it’s a niche ship, but one that I feel would be a good addition to the game. It doesn’t replace Poseidon, which are still great for high-speed ninjas and lighter fleets, but complements Proms, Ares, and Hades.

I chose particle 7 to provide an unlockable between 5 (plasma tech) and 10 (Hephaestus) and as an acknowledgment that this is an advancement beyond the Poseidon (which requires particle 2) and Weapons 8 to provide an unlockable before the Zeus at Weapons 11. Warp 7 places this ship between the Prom and the Zeus/Ares upgrade on the engine upgrade scale and Shipyard 9 matches what is necessary for the Prom. Feel free to comment on ways I can play with the unlockables, the exact rapid fire-mix, or other numbers. Also, feel free to play with the cost; I deliberately made it less expensive than the Prom even though it is going to usually be unlocked afterwards since it’s more of a complement to the Prom and not a super-ship. I wanted its hull to be lower than the Prom.

I also slotted its weapon power as slightly lower than a Hades; I wanted it to be powerful enough to hold its own against larger ships, but its value is primarily as an Artemis killer. Depending on feedback, I may increase the weapons power; it might be too low for a ship this expensive, even with its RF. I also toyed with the idea of giving it RF on the Apollo, but decided having RF on both types of fodder fighters would be too unbalancing.

New personal solo record: I've been trying to catch this player for awhile now, and finally got them. Smart player, understands Artemis fodder (they launched on me with a really well balanced fleet a couple of times, and I was able to FRS when there was no ninja available), and a savvy fleetsaver. We've been neighbors since February and this is the first time I've seen their fleet there without an activity star.

I know this isn't anything close to 7 of 9's main fleet...they're high-ranked enough that there's got to be a lot more elsewhere. But I'll take it. A solid bit of profit here.

Not a huge hit, only 3 million DF. Normally wouldn't post something this small, but it's my first solo Zeus kill. I've killed four, but always as part of a group attack. 3 of those 4 I *could* have profitably soloed, but teammates were available and/or someone else actually found it.

No supporting fleet, no defenses to speak of, just a Zeus, some cargoes, and a few missile batteries. I thought it was a trap, and approached with great caution.

It wasn't a trap.  :mrgreen:

I just launched Proms...against a Zeus with no other combat ships, anything else made my losses go up according to speedsim...

Extreme Universe / To Heph or not to Heph...
« on: July 22, 2010, 02:07:33 PM »
Now that my latest round of mine upgrades are complete, I'm thinking about building a Heph.

Still, I'm not certain if I need one. With the oracle blind to colonization missions now, and Extreme much smaller than Original (essentially twelve occupied galaxies....there's not much up north of G12), it might be more cost effective to use the two-MAC system.

My thoughts are this: Including a Zeus will slow my fleet enough to save a decent amount of hydro anyway; the ten million upfront hydro cost of a Heph means it will take me a long time to really begin saving hydro. And while the Heph frees up colony slots, it really only frees up one since smart Heph users keep a drop colony slot for long deploys from the Heph.

Not to mention that I can't send my Heph through my warp gates once it's been deployed, and given the amount of res I've invested in my moons/warpgates, that irks me.

So my debate is to build a Heph, or do the old-fashioned two-MAC rotation system. They both have their pros and cons, but it seems that the only advantage the Heph holds over a MAC is the saving of hydro. Heph users, what do you think? In original, I'd build one in a heartbeat, but my gates in Extreme are spaced so that I can do a colony drop anywhere in the occupied universe within two galaxies or less. Is it worth the huge cost? Why?

In this post, we'll learn the value of fodder and how not to coordinate a group attack.

Anyway, so this should have been much larger.

Lord Ender, Lord Fili and Lord Elric, all of Overkill, launch a group attack on Darth Sidious of UF6.

412 Proms
426 Hades
200 Ares
307 Athena

I had a lot of my fleet out on an attack, so I wasn't able to muster up enough capital ships to make a ninja profitable.

But...I know the power of fodder. So I could make it profitable. Hugely so. Sims showed this being a 40-mil plus DF, with almost all of that being their ships. We would have profited 9 mil ore and 13 mil crystal. :D

Unfortunately, OK doesn't coordinate very well. We showed no activity on Darth's world, but they must have oracled. Unfortunately, they oracled at the last minute, and Fili and Ender recalled. Elric didn't.

So Elric got slaughtered.

I get probed from several galaxies away fairly often. I think it's people scouting for Hephaestus locations, or perhaps mapping the moons in the game.

Alliances / UF6-Extreme looking for solid, mature players...
« on: July 03, 2010, 06:04:06 PM »
UF6-Extreme is recruiting a few solid, knowledgable, mature players with a good feel for the game and an aggressive mentality.

We have no NAPs and one war with KBF. We don't enter war unless provoked, but KBF has never managed to land a solid strike on us and they avoid us after we dismantled many of their top fleets. They're just too stubborn to hit the surrender button.

We are a highly aggressive alliance who plays by one rule: If it's profitable, hit it. We hit any alliance and any player. We welcome all playstyles, from mobile fleeter to miner, and are active in group hunting. We work as a team to bring down hard targets and share the profit equally; players starting out climb fast with us. Membership also includes access to the UF6 off-game website and message boards. Many of our group hits can be seen in the battle reports section, although we only post the big ones, generally. :D

We expect our members to play fair and clean, to only hit for profit, to be mature and courteous (If someone hits you, don't rage on them, just congratulate them, rebuild, and destroy their fleet :D ). We rarely get hit, though, as we fleetsave assiduously.

We're not hung up on rank. We're looking for potential and ability. Many of our strongest players started recently after coming over from original SFC and have risen fast. We do prefer playrs with experience in Extreme, Original SFC or 0-Game. If you're an experienced player from Original who wants to try Extreme, contact us. The majority of our active players are ranked in the top 1000 in one or both unis, and we do offer in-house training to inexperienced players who show potential in the game. Previous membership in a top-level alliance in either uni is usually a plus; we also give preferential admission to NOB or Top Gun graduates.

PM me here or you can find me around 136ish on the leaderboard in Extreme. We normally take 24-48 hours to process applications once all info is received.

Please include the following with an app:

1. How long have you been playing?

2. What's your (general) style of play?

3. What other alliances do you/have you belonged to in SFC (both versions)?

4. Rankings in both unis.

5. Where are you at, tech/fleet/minewise?

6. General area (we don't need coordinates, just what galaxies)

6. Whatever else you'd like us to know.
