I don't play in uni2, but let me say that it really don't matter what BFG does or says that they do. This is a war game. Looks like you've undertaken Sun Su's Art of War and conducted extensive study of your opponent. Use it wisely! What's your problem(s)?

I don't like the new interface. I've tried to go back to the old one, and that don't work now. I liked the old interface because the extensions I've got running don't work right in the new one.

Easy solution to 'i' accounts: Make it more fun (frustrating) to find them by having them randomly move around! One day here, the next day there, you never know what to expect!

Anyone ever consider just doing an upgrade to the Heph to give it "Torpedoes" or "Maverick" missiles? Something that could be like an IPM?

True, some of the comments about what it costs for defense is a tax. It's the maintenance of them that I wanted to bring into account. If you don't keep spending on existing defenses, just to maintain them, wouldn't they become less effective in real life? Same with large fleets of ships. Just loading them with gas and using them isn't maintaining them.

I just think it would add a new dimension to the game, and change the economics of it. It would make turtles think twice about building such an extensive defensive structure, and how it will effect their overall building strategy. Same with those that build huge fleets of ships! Like in real life, an arms race could take down your society. Just ask the Soviets! Or the Iraqis! Hey, I hear Libya ain't doing to well, either!

It's a WAR game! When you signed up for this, you agreed that you could kill, and be killed, FOR NO REASON AT ALL OTHER THAN YOU LIKE KILLIN'

Profit is a reasonable, rational, shall we say a proper motivation in the real world. THIS ISN'T THE REAL WORLD! It's virtual! We're playing WAR! It's an outlet for irrational behavior that rational sane people spend time in where it's safe to so! If I want to spend my 'money' doing something irrational, how is that different than buying a new pair of shoes when I already have 20 pairs! Or 200! Or 2000! Can you say that Imelda Marcos was a rational human being?

Please, leave us alone. Let us spend our time pursuing our irrational motivations anyway we choose. War really has no rules. Winning is judged by each person on their own.

Consider this and discuss: Taxing Turtles by reducing their number of Defensive pieces on a graduated basis over time. The more they have, the higher the rate. Also, have this rate increase when they go inactive.

How much more willing would you be to re-probe a colony knowing that it could now be profitable to raid due to a decrease in defenses? Would you play more often knowing that someone might have just had to 'pay the tax' and hasn't rebuilt even more defenses? Maybe you know of a colony that always leaves it's stuff out because they have 2,500 plasma cannons and now they don't?

Consider this and discuss: Taxing Fleets by the same process. Both ideas would inject more of a sense of realism into the game, inject a modicum of hope for the smaller player to superseded the larger player some day?

Or am I just bringing up something that's been discussed and dropped a long time ago?
