I love your comment about overnight builds. It's rather hypocritical to say the only time you have EVER managed to hit me is by targeting overnight builds, well that was till you narrowly missed a ninja. Funny but I haven't seen you since. You might probe me once in a while, but feel free to try one of those olocks on me ANYTIME. You say you have skills, well I am yet to see anything but pot luck hits.

I challenge you to come for me. As DH will tell you I am a good sport, and will bow down to your skills and openly admit it quite humbly be it true, so until then, as they say.

That's just it!  Hephs ARE deployed to colony slots.   You build it, then deploy it.  One could also send a heph on a colonize mission to prevent casual raping of additional colony ships when attempting to get a 320 field planet in a far location.

So in that case the heph would be deployed and the interdicter would be inactive as it is ON the heph not DEPLOYED.

Imagine if you will, you have quite a few floating with your heph on it's deploy.  Wouldn't that be inviting unwanted attacks?

It only works deployed to a colony slot! If it's travelling with other ships or on a heph it is inactive

Since you specify 0 cargo space for your interdicter, it could not be sent alone anyway.  What if the one ship it pulled in was a heph?  All the other ships on the heph would by necessity have to participate also.  Your interdiction force would be slaughtered in most cases.  Imagine if you will, you have quite a few floating with your heph on it's deploy.  Wouldn't that be inviting unwanted attacks?

It is set at 0 for that exact reason. You can't send it alone to just disrupt travel or bounce fleets. That wouldn't be constructive. As for heph, that's exactly what makes it interesting, you send 1 mill proms to intercept an incoming attack you that you might not have had the time to ninja but inadvertably intercept a heph. You loose your ships, the heph player gets bonus DSP and the heph continues, and the attack passes onto the planet. That's what makes it interesting, it adds variables that are easy to programme but make using them fun.

They can't pass the galaxy itself. If you travel from system 1 to system 499 the distance greatly exceeds the distance to another galaxy. If all distances were linear then all galaxies must intersect with all other galaxies, which by definition means there is only one galaxy in every universe..

You're now talking scientifically, I'm talking just about how big have organised them, in game mechanics it would be easy to add the variable.

That's the beauty of new ships, coming up with tactics and countermeasures.

And I got the linear from the SFC wiki. The way hydro cost of ships are calculated are based on the galaxies being linier. I see your point that the ships may not go directly through a planetary space BUT they do pass the galaxy itself.

A countermeasure suggested by one of my alliance members was send an attack ahead in

So for example fleet departs g1:100 going to 1:200 if you place the interdicter force between at 1:150 it will pull out the amount of ships the interdicter force is capable of but, if you don't back up the interdicters with battle ships they'll get slaughtered.

This would effect frs, attacks, Gds gas everything.

Galaxy to Galaxy The distance from any planet in one galaxy to any planet in another galaxy is 20,000 for each galaxy travelled. So to go from galaxy 1 to galaxy 3 would be a distance of:
20,000 * (3 - 1) = 40,000
Structure
From this list of distances, it can be determined that the structure of the universe is very linear. As the galaxy number increases, so does the distance from galaxy 1.
This will allow expansion of the universe if the galaxy become overcrowded. It also limits movement by the distance people are prepared to travel.
There is effectively a fuzzy "event horizon" to your sector of space past which attacks or trades just take too long. This can be offset by making colonies in vastly different parts of the universe, but you will have difficulty reinforcing your own planets if attacked.
For this reason, avoid colonising solar systems at either edge of a galaxy. A solar system in the middle of a galaxy can skip to solar systems nearby in either direction. At the edge, you can only skip towards the centre, and only have half the number of accessible solar systems to explore.

INTERDICTION FIELD SHIP.

the interdicter ship can be deployed with a fleet to a colony slot. It will 'pull' ships out of hyperspace into a 'trap' forcing the fleet into battle. It could be used to pull attacking fleets on the way to or returning from a target. The number of interdicters depict the size of the fleet they can pull out of hyperspace but they can only be deployed to one colony slot at a time. The size of the adjoining attacking fleet is limited by the use of the interdicter. Each interdicter can distort real space for 10 ships at a time. So if you send 1 interdicter with 9 ships it can only pull 1 ship out of hyperspace. It cannot choose the type of ships it pulls out.

As the galaxies are linier all you need to do is place the ship between your target and the NPC, but as you don't know who else is travelling to what other areas you could pull out of space more than you bargained for!!
