Ok, GD ninja, got it.

I'm sure I'll just lose a fleet if that happens to me, I'm no where near having a moon/oracle. That will be good to remember when I get past noob stage.

Once again, thanks for the responses. The more I learn from this game, the more I like it. Perfect for my addictive personality.

Plus, I can play this without my wife getting pissed

Kudos for kicking inactive butt. It's the absolute best way to build up when you're starting out. :)

A couple of tips -

Once you have Pulse Drive 5, your Atlas become faster than Hercs, and it's always better to send faster ships where possible. It may be worth keeping a small fleet of Atlas for raiding, and use Hercs to move your resources between your planets.

Always send a little more cargo capacity than you need

Long-term it doesn't matter, you'll need the cargo ships anyway, and you'll want all the plunder you can get. It's only a short-term solution to being too successful :)

Great tips, thanks!

I just noticed the pulse drive upgrade for atlas, as soon as I can scrape together 64k crystal, I'm all over it.

After reading this i went back and checked my last battle where I found this big fat inactive milk cow and didn't send enough cargo ships. I left quite a bit on the table. I won't make that same mistake again. Once again, thanks.

Take my advise on this... When you're attacking inactives, if you have a moon with an oracle within range, make sure you use it to scan the planet that you're attacking about 10 minutes before your attack lands... you'll be able to see incoming GD ninja's that way.

Believe me... I take out between two to six fleets of cargos a day, doing GD ninjas on an inactive friend of mine... because they don't bother scanning.

Ok, I have no where near a moon yet. or an oracle.

My attacking fleets are right now about 2 posi (my highest researched ship as of now), 10 apollos, and 20 artemis. 2 hercs and 10 atlas'. I know this isn't the most impressive fleet, but this is what I have to work with.

A question, if I had a moon and an oracle.... what is a GD ninja?

that is indeed a noobie tale

good luck to you :D

Well, this is a noobie corner. I tried to use the term noob as much as i could in my post because I knew people would just roll their eyes at my nub posting.

Gotta start somewhere.

a few things i've learned on my low level ~10 ship noob raids on hapless inactives and those lower than my feeble rank....

Always bring enough cargo capacity to haul away your bounty.

probe, probe, and probe. I even got messaged saying that he moved all fleets and res off the planet and shut down production. I probed again and he did. I recalled my fleet.

Go and pick up your debris if you get smashed. I didn't right away. There was enough to rebuild half my stuff. When I finally sent 2 dio's, the debris was gone.

Anyways, this has been a really fun week of playing this game.  Please feel free to add your noobie raiding tales.

A significant defensive shell so enough debris is created?

What would constitute a 'significant' defensive shell?

Thanks for the honorific, "new guy".

I'm over 18, but wish I wasn't.

Thanks for the responses.

Shadows is also recruiting. While we're not a "training alliance", we've trained people in the past and it's a generally helpful, knowledgeable group.

I appreciate your response. Perhaps I should build up a bit before I join, as I would definitely have a ton of questions and really wouldn't be able to contribute much. I imagine it's tedious teaching noobs.

Am I correct in thinking the only way I have a chance at getting a moon is for someone to attack me and debris left will form a moon? Did I read that right? Does that mean I need to get my place smashed up for this to happen?

I will point out here that ONLY ships and ground defenses can be destroyed in combat; your ground defenses automatically regenerate (on a 70% random chance per unit); and a successful attacker can take 50% of loose resources at time of attack. That's it.

They cannot destroy a planet or any non-defensive buildings on it.

Look up "fleetsave". It's a technique you can use to protect your ships and some of your loose resources, minimizing potential damage.

So it might not be such a bad thing for my place to get smashed up if i end up with a moon?

Thanks for all the responses. .... anyone want to come murder my planet? lol

Honestly. No matter what you have for defences in this game you will never be 100% safe turdled up.The mines pays very well in this version of the game. The higher you take your mines the better off your rank an daily intake will be.Build cargos an Dions to carry your Res away on your Nightly FRS.  remeber NO FRS= No ships or Res.here.

Ok, the acronym FRS?

I'm assuming you are talking about fleetsaving? I only have one dino, just unlocked it, and i don't have the crew points to unlock the recycling mission yet. I've been just sending my fleet (loaded with all my current resources) on transport missions between my 2 planets, putting the speed down to 10% so it takes about 10 hours to return.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok, first time playing any SFC incarnation (currently uni 2). I've built some things, but after reading ahead on the forum, I realize the scope of this game is bigger than I understand.

A lot of posts are tough to disseminate. Abbreviations and acronyms are rampant. (I look them up on the wiki as I go)

I guess I would ask that once you have a simple start, I've mainly just been building mines(15/14/12), What are the options from here out?

I've made a few fighters and picked off some low hanging fruit in the form of lower inactives. I've yet to invest in a lot of defenses, so I'm sure I can be wiped out on a whim, and I'd be powerless to do anything to stop it.

I've gotten lucky and my 1 and only colony has 193 fields (which i've read is decent) just so I can build even more mines and build a resource base.

I'd like to hear opinions more along the lines of what would you do different at roughly this point?

Thanks.

So how does one go about joining an alliance? And as a noob, I feel no embarrassment in asking, what are the benefits of being in an alliance?

I am a pretty new player, and I'm just figuring things out (tearing up the wiki as much as i can). I have figured out that this game is akin to crack.
