@censored and others,

Given the size of current-game fleets, I think that we will continue to see a lot of one-hit-and-done wars, now and in the future.  400K dead Proms -- war is over!  1.4M dead Carms -- ditto!  It's the nature of the current beast. I think that, to have a better chance at longer multi-hit wars, we will have to continually increase the number of points needed for victory.

For Rounds 2 and 3, maybe increase the total points needed for victory to something like 1B points?  Rayman, can we do this?  Does the game support wars with that many points needed for a win?  Maybe think about it as we get closer to Round 2.

All, as to why there was no HOD-B.A.D. war after Tourney 2 -- it turns out that the fault largely is mine.  I haven't told this story before, maybe I was too personally embarrassed to do so.

As Tourney 2 was winding down, Commander kangar and I floated the idea of a HOD - B.A.D. war after the tourney and before Tourney 3 started.  He took the idea to his team, and they eagerly accepted.  I got wrapped up in some business travel and didn't take the proposal to my fellow HOD officers for a number of days.  By the time we vetted the idea and got concurrence from the membership, over a week had gone by -- and the time remaining until the start of Tourney 3 was down to around 4 weeks or so (the date hadn't yet been fixed).  With this compressed time, B.A.D. was concerned that there wasn't enough time for them to both have the war with us and prepare for Tourney 3.  The B.A.D. membership reconsidered the war request and, based upon this time concern, decided to pass.

So, by "courting too slow", I largely killed the opportunity for a mid-Tournies war between our alliances.

Sorry, guys.  My bad (no pun intended!)  :(

BTW, I've been able to pull this whole story together only recently as the result of some conversations in the past couple of weeks with kangar.  So, if I've told a different tale before, either publicly or within HOD, I apologize for inadvertent deception.

@Carnage- I was in no way sarcastic with my post, and was actually being sincere in the fact that it is very good to see the good sportsmanship they showed, prior to Laz posting and them responding.

As far as increasing the total war points to win a war I'm fine with that. Part of the reason I've kept it where it was was to increase the likelihood that smaller alliance might participate versus the extremely powerful alliances.

I know I've increased the points for the next one but I can see no reason not to increase this total further. I do not know what the upper limit is so i'll ping BFG to see if there's a limit.

Yup, not much at all, but this is Original. Fleet sizes have grown beyond what the designers had originally thought possible. Thanks to NPC's.  ;)

I guarantee there's a few people in Conquest who could lose a war just by losing their probes. Maybe even satellites, though I'm less certain of that one.

Congrats to Wayne and HOD for their second win in as many nights.  Knocking off BAD and Pilgrims in back to back nights is no easy feat.
I lost my entire battle fleet ,over 500 million ships , tried to recall my attack but computer lag killed me. Good group defend Wayne ,guess shouldn't have tried to sneak that one under your nose . I make alot of risky attacks to win wars but this one bit me in the ass.

But HOD members are not the only ones who can rise from the ashes.  I was pissed and almost walked away but decided when I leave it will be on my terms.  And the Pilgrims are still in this thing.

We'll post the results of imad's unfortunate attack once this round is over.  I gave an assignment to one of my alliance mates -- he has to write a good sci-fi space battle story to tell the tale well!  We'll be busily reviewing his story drafts, the final one should be ready in around 4 weeks (I'm a slow editor, sorry).
