A question abt high ROI on low level mines
« on: January 13, 2010, 03:06:17 AM »
According to the wiki,"Mines have a very quick ROI (return on investment) at early levels. Early levels pay for themselves in a matter of minutes or hours." Don't the mines go off of X amount produced every hour? Maybe its fatigue or classwork, but I fail to see how low level mines make more. Someone clarify for me plz?

They don't make more per minute.  What they are, though, is cheaper to build per resource/hr than later levels of mines.

Example:  Level 1 Ore mine costs 60 ore and 15 crystal to build and produces 33 ore/hr.  That cost is equivelant to 86.25 ore (60 ore + 15x1.75 ore worth of crystal, at average trade value.)  Disregarding the cost of energy (which just complicates things a bit,) that means the Level 1 Ore mine returns your investment in 2.6 hours.

In contrast, the upgrade from Level 5 to Level 6 ore mines has an ore-equivelant cost of 652.75 ore and increases production by 77 ore/hr.  That means the Level 6 ore mine upgrade returns your investment after 8.4 hours.
