Workers serve as lubricant for mining equipment
« on: March 08, 2010, 01:00:05 PM »
It is my belief that workers serve as lubricant for mining equipment and other machinery on your planets. This is the only way to explain how freshly received untrained individuals can so dramatically and immediately increase the efficiency of your mines and other buildings.

You do raise an interesting point.  Though I doubt that the droids are very good at lubricating things with their meta frames and whatnot.  Perhaps that's why they only give you half the boost in production?

I consider my workers to be slave labor. They boost productivity because I can force them to work harder like I can't do to the mining equipment. The droids only boost production by half as much, because while they supplement the fixed systems you can't whip them to make them work faster.

I think of it like the little singing mechanic droid in the waiting area of Disneyland's "Star Tours" ride... he's powered off and rebooted every few minutes as he begins to outgrow his programming and gain sentience. So the efficiency of the droids is not as good as, say, a fully sentient factory worker (as they don't have to be rebooted periodically).

At first I  But, since I'm a Diesel student I  :?

Bodies do not make good lubrication, too many foreign particulate to scuff up the machinery.

Good way to get rid of unruly droids though!

As a McDonald's employee I must publicly disagree with that fact.

My droids run Windows Vista and need to rebooted periodically. Hence, they are less efficient.

It's a joke from a webcomic called Dr. McNinja (PG-13).

Ok so I googled McNinja and was treated to awesomeness. Thanks guys!

Gordito is Dr. McNinja's 12 year old sidekick. He grew his moustache through sheer force of will.
