(vI) question...what happened to the update?
« on: May 17, 2011, 07:24:14 PM »
Unless I missed something...

Not only are they not attackable, sometime during the downtime they were able to log in. A few went poof and now the (vI) are showing as just (v).

Here it was posted that it would be retro, although not officially by BFG.

Early adopters always run the risk of getting bitten in the posterior. :)

Would have just been nice to actually have some targets.

Personally, I feel that the advent of v-moders becoming targets after 35 days of inactivity is not such a big deal that most players are making it to be. Sure, there will some that have a multitude of riches on their planets from the time they went "v"; but in most cases these long term v-mode planets are the result of someone quitting the game either through forces of RL or in a rage after having been smacked on the bottom, so to speak.
Lets not forget that during the entire v-mode time, there has been NO production on these planets, and in most cases the fleets were previously destroyed in battle, thus the majority of these targets are a mere waste of time.

Yep, I haven't even bothered looking around. There's one guy near me that's (v) I'll keep an eye on, but that's it. As you say, it's really not a biggie.

I think the biggest thing this changes is those that decided to let their account die with no one hitting it. I know of at least 2 people that had hephs that quit the game by just letting their account roll off.

As long as a player may just log on to their account once every while to keep the (v) status, this seems to be a good change even for players that have to go on extended leave from the game. I understand that there may not be much res if the player quit after being wiped out, but with good mines, it will still provide some good income for nearby players once they are changed to inactive status!  ;)

If people want to quit and not give anyone any satisfaction, they can still just turn off all their mines, send all their OCH and ships off to one of their planets, and then abandon it.

But for those who just forget their accounts, I like that people will be able to hit them for a little while before they are gone.

I know this has been asked to death, but not seeing the answer I'm looking for.  When do we get a sense of what galaxies are on the chopping block?

I thought they'd claimed they were cutting it down to just galaxies 1-8.  I can't believe there are so few players, but that's the claim I heard.

8 galaxies for SFCO is patently absurd.
