Compression plan for Starfleet Commander Extreme
« on: May 18, 2011, 07:44:30 PM »
This post will detail how the ability to move planets will be introduced, and the compression plan for Starfleet Commander Extreme.

The first step is that the ability to move planets will go live on Tuesday, May 24th, at 14:00:00 server time.  In order to alleviate potential server issues, 10% of the players (selected randomly) will gain the ability each hour until all the players have the ability at 23:00:00.  Each planet will be able to be moved one time (for free) during the period between when the planet moving goes live, and when the compression occurs the following week on Tuesday, May 31st, at 14:00:00 server time.  If the planet has a moon, the moon will move as well.

Once a planet has moved, ships on this planet (or the moon with it) will be unable to attack, deploy, group defend, or join on a colonization mission for 24 hours.

The game will be compressed to galaxies 1-6, and immediately after the compression, Galaxies 7-9 will become available.

When the compression occurs on May 31st, at 14:00:00, any planets that are in Galaxies 7-20 will be assigned a new spot at random somewhere in Galaxies 1-6.  And any outbound fleet tasks will simply be canceled when this happens.

Since we are opening up Galaxies 7-9 after the compression, we are going to give everyone 1 free planet move (per planet) after the compression, so that they can move to Galaxies 7-9 if they desire (or somewhere else in 1-6).  This will be in effect for 72 hours after the compression.

There is an additional change being made to planet moving, Debris Fields will not be able to be collected by Dionysus that are sent from a planet currently within the 24 hour recently moved period.

These ships will still be able to be sent as normal on a Harvest mission; however, if they try to harvest a spot with a Debris Field, it will be ignored.

Clarification from various forum posts -- thanks to Rohi for putting this together.

A] It is being compressed to NINE GALAXIES.

The game will be compressed to galaxies 1-6, and immediately after the compression, Galaxies 7-9 will become available.

[C] Hephs will be able to be moved just like a planet. You will be able to move your Heph as normal after the move, but you will be unable to launch attacks / deploys / etc from it.

[D] Hephs will be able to be moved as normal during the 24 hour cooldown period.

[E] Planet fields and temperature will not change.

[F] Even if a planet is moved into a different spot, its temperature will remain the same -- it is locked in upon the creation of the planet.

[G] Even if you are n Galaxy 1-6, you will get 1 free move for each planet.

[H] Moved planets / Hephs will be attackable immediately.

Purchasable planet moves will become a permanent feature in the game.

[J] An incoming attack will not prevent a planet from being moved, the requirement to move it will be similar to that of a Heph -- you cannot have any fleets tasks associated with it in order to move it.

[K] The inability to move with research / building is a un-intended, and will be fixed before the planet move code is live in the Extreme universe.

[L]

1 - On the 24th May between 14:00 and 23:00 server time all palyers, in all galaxies will have one free planet move - this free move will expire just before compression on the 31st May, 14:00 server time.

2 - After compression - all players, in all galaxies will have one further free planet move - this free move will expire after 72 hrs."

[M] Harvest missions sent from a planet / Heph during the 24 hour period after moving will be unable to gather resources from a Debris Field.

At 14:00:00 server time today, the planet move feature went live for the first 10% of users.  Each hour, an additional 10% will gain the ability to use this in preparation for the compression in one week.

On the galaxy page next to where it says ,"Be careful. It costs hydrogen to look at solar systems other than your own. ", if you have the ability to move your planet, you will see a link that says, "Move your Planet".

Clicking this link will bring up a box that asks you to confirm where you would like the currently active planet to be moved to in the current system.
