espionage
« on: October 30, 2011, 06:06:13 AM »
maybe I'm green but I have to ask. I thought that at esp8 you were suppose to be able to get defenses, ship counts, and other such unless the other persons esp was REALLY higher than yours. So far I haven't got anything over resources on planet and that is it off of inactives. Kinda wondering if there is any advice that can be given here.

No specific level - depends on their espy level and your number of probes.
Elevas Sunchild, flooder fori and head of The Regiment
Moons owned - 14 (9 in O, 5 in 2)
Moons given - 36 (All on Purpose)
Best rank to date - 817 (SFCO)
First (in SFCO) to Energy Tech 17, I claim it!

shoot for esp 13 or 14 and send 4-8 probes for most targets.  25 for hephs with high esp but be prepared to lose them.
SFCO Uni - Rick Blackford, Leader, Valente do Moita
Uni2 - Emperor R, no longer active here
Nova Uni - Nova1, Harrasser, N:S:K, gave this one up!
SDE, Lancelot, Not playing anymore

If your Espionage Tech level is greater than or equal to your opponent's:
Espionage Number = number of probes in the scanning fleet + (your Espionage Tech level - opponent's Espionage Tech level)2.
If your opponent's Espionage Tech level is greater than yours:
Espionage Number = number of probes in the scanning fleet - (opponent's Espionage Tech level - your Espionage Tech level)2.
pretty much what this means is that if you have esp 8 and they have esp 8 you need 7 probes to get the info, if you have esp 8 and they have esp 15 you need 56 probes to get all the info.

if you are low esp you might want to try probing a moon to get tech info and if they don't have ships there you aren't going to get intercepted.

Espi level 8 only allows you to see the actual ship counts of an attacking fleet coming at you on your fleet screen. Lower than 8 and you get ? instead of a number on the ships coming at you. You do get a total ships coming at you count, but have no clue how many of each ship is coming.
