I think they need to change the ratio a bit. Most of the n NPCs in SFC are just sitting there because the noobies aren't playing and those that are still on the grid are still in d mode. I have found as many as 5 NPCs for noobies in one solar system. I don't mind the competition for the ones I can attack but there need to be more. Also I have found I get the best results when I use only Hercs, Ares and Prometheus with only a minimal loss of hercs. I do double up on the hercs though.

Ya, I have been toying with the switch to hercs instead of atlas when hitting these high defense npcs. I dont know if it's just me, but it sure seems to me my losses are far greater when hitting them than they would be if i were hitting a real player. Has anyone else had this observation?

 .. My level 10 in attack / defence / shield is coming back to haunt me !!
It's one thing to have a shoiteload o defence .. but I'm finding I'm incapable of firin off :(

Well thank gawd for this post, I thunk it was just me, these 7/7/7 AWS npcs totally blow me out of the water unless I overwhelm the target at great hydro expense

I too have noticed that I have to include more fodder than usual....but most of that has to do with the high plasma and gauss defense count. Still most of these high value NPCs only pay off on one wave, after that  the hydro will kill you.

Ya but unless they get hit 3 times, they dont regenerate and they become stagnant, i usually will even be the dude that goes in on only the third hit in the slender hope that it will regenerate right in my face, lol

The NPC's have become boring to me already. Its like playing farmville. I chuck Hades at anything under tech level 10,  and lose nothing, at above 10 if no Plasma i use the same tactics. If there are Plasmas i use Proms at 5 systems and under. The rest i leave. Other real targets are now becoming impossible to find, and if you do find a decent one an ihopper is there in an instant. I had four sub 1000 players taken from me in a week during Christmas by ihoppers. All targets that normally would have been mine. Live targets are rarer than ever, and the heph is now almost unusable.

i totally agree i do the same an doubling the hercs is good

sorry... Any chance of clarifying this? Its a bit jumbled up and doesnt entirely make sense .. I could misinterpret it ...i think you are saying you take losses against an NPC that you wouldnt expect against a regular player and as a result something is wrong.. Is that right?

i agree that the npc's are boring.
i enjoy that somebody logs on sees i smashed their def for a few ships/helios and some rez.
but i disagree that they are not profitable. i will launch hades 1k-7.5k at them.
i normally pull around a 5:3:-1 or 3:1:0 sort of ratio. yesterday's pull from npc's 6k dsp 24.5m/13.1m/-2.8m lost 7 hades.
