I keep looking at the current screen and comparing what is being added. There is plenty of room to add the extra four links without changing the existing layout. Why do I get the feeling that there is a developer that feels he must justify his job by changing something  that already works as designed?

I have seen this before in RL. Someone gets hired and makes totally unnecessary redesigning of layouts (software or actual RL objects) so he can say "see what I did?" and the company thinks they are getting their money's worth. When actually if you are constantly getting design changes, it usually means you have too many developers on the payroll - too much time on their hands.

Being a software engineer myself, I can relate to this fleecing process.
