Vacation Mode
« on: September 16, 2009, 05:23:23 PM »
Now you can enable Vacation Mode through the Options link in the footer. The rules are:

1. To enable Vacation Mode, you must have no buildings or units under production, and no active fleets.
2. When in Vacation Mode, your mines will not produce resources, and you will be unable to do anything. Nobody will be able to attack or espionage you.
3. Any attacks or transports against your worlds sent before you entered Vacation Mode will still complete as normal, so it cannot be used to avoid attacks.
4. Vacation Mode lasts for a minimum of 48 hours. If you will be away for less time, we recommend fleet and resource saving instead.

No fleetsave = no fleet.

I guess, now, Diplomacy mode is a better choice for longer times away if you can deal with the 24-hour waiting period in and out.

From Options:

Vacation Mode

Vacation Mode allows you to protect and freeze your account if you will be away from the game for an extended period of time. While active, you will not accumulate any resources and you cannot be attacked. Even with vacation mode enabled, you will still be marked inactive (though not attackable) after a period of 7 days and risk account deletion after 35 days. Vacation mode can only be activated if you have no fleets out or building, research, or upgrades pending. Finally, please note that once active, your account will be in vacation mode for a MINIMUM of 48 hours.
Vacation mode lasts for AT LEAST 48 hours!

But I contacted the devs, with a similar question but for this coming summer on course. They said that if you let them know, they won't remove you.

Does anyone know how you'd contact the Devs?

While I'm not planning on being away for as long as those in school or deploying, it may come up.

There have been several in my system that have gone I and have been removed in the past week.  There is also at least one a couple systems over that went into vacation mode, but is still there.  I think maybe they give more leeway to those in vacation mode as opposed to those that are plain inactive...

I think that's a fair assumption, but I'm not entirely sure on this one :0

Devs don't have special accounts. If one of us went inactive it wouldn't be any different than anyone else doing so. None of us likely ever will though since we generate activity frequently when working on the game.

What about a work mode? I cannot access facebook at work. If I were found checking in on a video game at work I would probably be fired so the other then facebook option is not viable.

Dip mode, or fleet save so that your fleet comes back after you come back from work?
Don't really know what you'd like with work mode?
