What are the mean and standard deviation of new colonies' number of fields in Conquest?

well I guess it is a good post but it should be in the wiki.  I have 14 unsuccessful colonization attempts with the planet surveyor and aiming at slot 4 as per the wiki -- most attempts were less than 100.  I call BS.  Getting behind early on in this type of game is frustrating.  If I didn't already transfer my credits and give away my sde account I'd quit.  How difficult is it to update the wiki?

The wiki is intended to provide a general guide to playing the game. However, over the years, a number of players have contributed more detailed graphs and data related to game play. The general mechanics of Planet Fields are the same in Conquest as in all other Universes (smaller planets closest and furthest from the sun), but  players are welcome to add more detailed, Universe specific, information about planet fields to the wiki if they wish.

Is this still correct on the Wiki?   "If the Gaussian random number generator returns a value outside of 1 standard deviation away from the mean in either direction (which occurs roughly 32% of the time) a uniformly distributed random number between 40 and 320 is used instead."  Or do I have horrible luck? Again I have the planet surveyor that should increase the size by 25. My latest attempt at slot 5 gave me less than 100 :(

Your new planet has 102 fields.
Your new planet has 87 fields.
Your new planet has 92 fields.
Your new planet has 98 fields.
Your new planet has 100 fields.
Your new planet has 110 fields.
Your new planet has 101 fields.
Your new planet has 99 fields.
Your new planet has 85 fields.
Your new planet has 85 fields.
Your new planet has 111 fields.
Your new planet has 97 fields.
Your new planet has 96 fields.

That is horrible luck for slot 5.  About half of hits on slot 5 with a Surveyor should be at or above 200 fields.  I know a player in my alliance who uses that technique (slot 5 + surveyor with a goal of 200) and I think he got like 5 keepers in 6 or so attempts...

The last time I colonized a planet, I wouldn't settle for less than 300 fields... it took well over 200 attempts with the PS...

Best advice that I can give you, is don't send 1 colony ship at a time... send out as many colony ships as you have fleet slots available, all to the same spot, spaced out about 30-40 seconds apart... be ready as soon as the first one lands,... check the planet that is created, if it isn't satisfactory, then abandon it immediately, and the next colony ship will land very soon afterwards... repeat the process until you get a planet that you want to keep... the rest of the colony ships can either be recalled, or just let them run their course, and they will return on their own.

Time and patience is a factor here. If they came easy it would be no fun! I have 6 colonies all 250+ fields!! Took awhile but I'm there..

Right, if you're shooting for 200 fields, and you have the planet surveyor, you should get a keeper in just a couple of shots to slot 5.  Slot 4 is pretty much the same as 1-3. Unless Matt gave us bad info, but like I said, it worked for a mate of mine.  Don't know what god livermint displeased.

Colony ratio seems about the same as other Uni's pretty low with a nice one coming in every now and then.

I've  had
234
241
288
292

These are the goods ones I've already done my picky colonizer badge.

I still have a 151 which was colonized earlier which will be blown later.
