Lazoputz & Silent Bob vs James Martin - 60,554,164,175 DSP
« on: October 17, 2014, 12:43:02 PM »
Some of us are obsessed with the leader board so tend to keep an eye on who is and is not in "p" mode, I spotted a few weeks back that James had gone inactive but the "P" was preventing stuff happening so I left it alone. Yesterday, I spotted the "P" had vanished from the leader board and went looking for his home planet and Hep. When I found it I spotted Lazoputz already there so was gonna leave it alone but then ISS Hawk messaged me asking if I could move a planet (not stating to where) to which I replied yes and where was James's fleet! ISS Hawk said Lazoputz would GA with me, but as I didn't know ISS Hawk from Adam I messaged Lazoputz directly.

Some may remember I took down Lazoputz's Hep a while back, he took it like a gentleman and we chatted afterwards and buddied up. We hadn't talked much recently but when he got my message about James he asked if I could drop in and lend a hand. So, there was a lot of trust being put on the line by both of us as we had not worked together before - would either of us pull a Darth P and let the other suicide his fleet - but we took each other at their word and below is the result.

That was a very nice hit -- excellent job of team work!

I know what James' situation is -- his RL situation most likely is causing him to leave the game, which is a bit of sadness for me, personally.  I've always enjoyed my interactions with him, he's been a good player in the game.

He will be missed.

On another note -- the number of James' buddies who GDed with him in order to pick up some DSPs drives an old truism home -- be careful with whom you buddy!  I've heard of situations where a player was under attack, and "unfriendly buddies" sent probes to fill up the available GD slots, thereby preventing the player-in-need from getting support.  So, it's good to periodically review your buddies list and prune away people for whom you have to ask the question, "now, WHY did I buddy them?".

Hi, Jabs,

Given that James has been an inactive player for a while, in this case there was no harm done to him by those who added a "GD probe" in order to pick up some DSPs.

With that being said, I do agree with your general sentiment.  In the case of an active live player undergoing an attack, someone who adds an uninvited probe in order to gain "GD DSPs" should be publicly exposed so that others can make a reasoned decision regarding unbuddying them.

i can not believe so many are moaning at players playing the game?
gd is part of the game and always will be. that is called playing the game how it is intended to be played.
bfg will not change the game so either deal with it, or quit if you dont like it.

why dont you try doing the heavy lifting so you at least worked for it.   unless asked to send only a probe you should be sending more.   i have made joint attacks  with several players ranked higher then me....much higher....i send in what i can and then we split the df.....however i do it by percentage.  so if i send in a million proms and the other guy sends 4 times that what would the percentage take be on my end smarty pants.   in this world you have to work hard to get something....some people get lucky which i assume its you but most people have to work for it.   Blood sweat and tears..  many of us just think its bad form.   they wont change anything at bfg because honestly they dont care but seriously other then one time a month ago when they had a little sale in the items and commanders things when has there been a sale.   also this game was supposed to be free then why are some people spending 1000's of dollars to get a leg up and other are paying 5 or 10 at a time just to continue to enjoy this game.   aunty please stop talking high and mighty your not special.    You can disagree with us thats your choice but the high and mighty bs drop it.

ok then what other feature should we remove from the game? the attack button???
yes some people really do not like being attacked so we should remove the attack feature.
also lets remove pms aswell because space is supposed to be a lonely place.
some people do not like p mode so lets remove that also.
where will this stop before everyones happy?.
i think my point is you take away group defends or any of the other features and people will still find somethjing to moan at.
dsp actualy means nothing anyway it does not help you does it?
why not take away npcs aswell because people hate them?
where will this stop?
either the game needs a massive overhaul of everything which wont happen
or nothing changes and people need to stop moaning and get on with there lives.
if you want to moan maybe everyone that bought an account should be removed because its"not there hard earned dsp"
maybe we should reset all them accounts back to zero from when they 1st got took over?
do you get it yet??? just play the game and stop worrying what other people do.

If someone comments that they do not like a specific feature of the game, how can you presume and state that that is "moaning"? There are things I dont like either, such as allowing people the right to come in to this forum with a pantload of attitude, but you dont hear me "moaning" about it do you? I feel it is everyone's right to have an OPINION, even you.

i do not understand your post?
i have not accused you of "moaning" laz.
i was merely offering and alternate view on why the point of views of a few were flawed.
you have posted on here like i have personally attacked you in a post.

Maybe I missed a post or maybe there is spillover from other threads, but I didn't see anyone suggest removing Group Defends, just one comment about thinking it's lame ...
... wish that people would actually not try to steal dsp like that on a group defend... but their (sic) is no rule against it... i just think its bad form ... .

... and some later warning about the risk of "buddies" sending probe GDs to scoop dsp on your misfortune and to lock out actual help.  The advice about being careful who is on your buddy list seems pretty rational to me.

Like I said ... maybe this thing about GDs is an ongoing theme in other threads ... otherwise I'm really not sure what unleashed the condescension bomb:
i can not believe so many are moaning at players playing the game?
gd is part of the game and always will be. that is called playing the game how it is intended to be played.
bfg will not change the game so either deal with it, or quit if you dont like it.
