Why? basic cargo Ships
« on: December 29, 2009, 12:21:54 PM »
According to the fleet button, I have 11.

I do not mean fleets, i do mean ships, if it was fleets, i would be able to deploy 2 fleets of 5 = 10.

Whenever I deploy them I can only deploy a max of 5 ships even when they do not need escorting.

I mean if i deploy 1 on a daily mission, i can only deploy 4 max on anything else and cannot deploy any others until the original returns.

any ideas?

I'm a bit confuse but I'll try (with lots of guessing).

You have 11 ships. I'm guessing your AI is 4, right? You sent them out on missions but only 5 max everytime. In mission, 5x means 5 fleets, differs from deploying/transporting to other planet where you can send out unlimited number of ships in one fleet.

Sorry for the quote, I cannot see how to reply without it.
Yes AI is 4 and yes when attacking I can send out all ships.

I am referring to ore and crystal missions etc.  If I send 5 to crystal (in one fleet), i have to wait till they come back before i can send any to ore or anything else.

I now have:
   4 Hermes,
   13 Atlas,
   13 Artemis
   7 Apollo,

English is not my first language and I'm a bit lost how to say it more eloquently.

Ex.
Raid an Unguarded Crystal Mine requires 1 Atlas
You send out 5 atlas means you send out 5 fleets. When you click 'max' button it doesn't mean sending your ships in 1 fleet. That's 5 missions altogether.
So of course you have to wait all 5 Atlas back before you can do other missions. If say, you send only 2 on Raid an Unguarded Crystal Mine you can do 3 other missions.

That's because you're not sending 5 ships in one fleet on a crystal mission, you're actually doing 5 missions at the same time which requires 5 fleets: one for each mission.

Right, missions take up fleet slots. There is no cap on how many ships are in a fleet other than a mission. Missions require a set number of ships.

No fleetsave = no fleet.

Right, that sort of makes sense, and found how to reply without quite.

I wrongly assumed that if i sent 5 together in one go that they were 1 fleet.

thanks for correcting me.

If you up your A.I. Tech in research you will be able to send out an extra ship per level. so if you have an ai of 4 you can only send out 5 on missions. if you increase your ai tech to level 5 you can send out 6 cargo ships and do six missions.
