Alliance pros and cons? and probe destruction
« on: January 29, 2010, 02:09:31 AM »
I have been invited into an alliance.  The invitation was was offered by someone whom has acted hostile.  I have developed enough defense to discourage attaqcks but has continued to probe me.  I guess I have two questions:  How much espionage level will destroy probes?  Second, what are the down side issues of an alliance?

Counterespionage depends on both parties Espionage levels, the amount of probes sent, and the amount of ships in orbit. Destroying probes sent to your planet only serves to discourage probing, since they still recieve an espionage report.

Alliances are full of benefits, so just ask about them and see if they're what you're looking for.

Might want to check the 'Alliances' section. Plenty of them are recruiting now...

My advice is join one between 20-60 members, I don't approve of the "mega-alliances". See "A New Hope" for details.

Agreed

What about the ones that are 200-300 in size

I've been asked buy a couple of that size.  AoA and C.R.S.A.

We're 90 members strong, and to tell you the truth I hate how big our alliance is.  I agree with the small alliance suggestion.

Small alliances are good because no one gets lost in the crowd so everyone gets a chance to develop and be supported. You also get to know each other much better with fewer people and can coordinate the team based on strengths and weeknesses to keep everything well balanced.

Diplomacy and Communications officer, UF6 Extreme.
Now recruiting players with a mature attitude and a well developed sense of fun.

More madness then method, but it works for us.

The problem is not size but rather it is organized. A well organized alliance will feel like you are in a 20-50 member alliance. Everyone in a particular area is a mini-alliance and each with a commanding officer that reports important info to and from the other parts of the alliance. So before you join one ask how it is organized or structured.
