« on: February 24, 2010, 03:38:52 PM »
There are now moons in the new game, are there any in the old version?

Can anyone explain exactly how they work?

There now float 1,671,900 ore and 915,450 crystal in this orbit.
There's a 17.2% chance that a moon will form from the debris.
However, no moon formed.

1667 arties = 3M debris = 20% moonchance.  Not sure if you can get higher than a 20% moonchance...

Actually that's a 2,000,400 DF.

Each percentage here is 150k DF, not 100k ;)

Does the size of the debris field relate to the size of the moon itself?

From what I am seeing the answer to this is NO.  Moons will start with  fields and you have to build a moon base to get more.  More levels of moon base = more fields.  Check out the WIKI.  Moons are in it already.

it says the Oracle "never a moon or debris field" ... does that mean harvest missions can't be scaned? I mean.. whats the point of scanning DF otherwise?? ... if not.. fleet saving is now pretty useless? =/

It doesn't make fleet saving useless as fleets can't be attacked in flight. It does however mean the players lucky enough to get moons who have a Oracle at a high enough level (which to start with, wont be that many) will know exactly when the fleet returns and what it is comprised of, which means you'll want to plan your fleets to return just after you plan to start playing again instead of just before.
