2 Million =/= 3 Million.1667 =/= 2500Ă–game =/= SFCquod erat demonstrandum

It actually works out identical within a decimal point or two if you do the math and ratio it.

2M/3M = 2/3
1667/2500 = 2/3

It doesn't even LOOK like the Death Star.

Is that a joke?
death star.jpg[/attachment:1tkt4pmv]
Zeus.png[/attachment:1tkt4pmv]

Similar, but not exact. Zeus has what looks like a city at the south pole, dual equatorial trenches, and the "superlaser" is centered on the equator. Death star has no south pole city structures, one equatorial trench, and the super laser is completely in the northern hemisphere.

As to the pic, the crater is both different and off-centre (and isn't a weapon either), AND there's superstructure underneath, which the Death Star never had.
Thanks for pointing those 2 obvious things out.

you know what?

they still look the same though.

Take your own advice. If they look the same to you then you probably need corrective surgery. lol

And since you want to get all uppity about it, you chose the Earth's moon to base your calculations on, but you deride me for bringing in game mechanics? Lets see just how far off YOU are when talking potential moons just within our solar system.

Deimos: smallest moon in the solar system @ mean radius of 6.2km. There's your 150k shot.
Luna: mean radius of 1,737.10 km.
Ganymede: largest moon in the solar system @ mean radius of 2634.1 km. THAT would be your 3M df, if you want to ignore the game mechanics that this game is based on.

Facepalm indeed.

As to the pic, the crater is both different and off-centre (and isn't a weapon either), AND there's superstructure underneath, which the Death Star never had.

The smallest moon in our solar system isn't Deimos, it is Dactyl and it is about 1.2 by 1.4 by 1.6 km. (averaging 1.4 Km) .

Why does the debris field stay?? Because it has nothing really to do with a moon. It is the amount of weapons fire in a given region of space that allows a moon to be formed. The debris doesn't go into making the moon it just sits there.

Therefore It makes more sense that saturation fire of the advanced weapons opens a rift in space and time and opens a micro-white hole that spits out mass thus forming a moon.

Now you're just making things up, sir. A moon is formed from all of the puppies brought by starfleet commanders for good luck and prosperity.

The accumulated filth of all their ore and crystal will foam up about their waists and all the commanders and red-shirts will look up and shout "Fleet-save!"... and I\'ll whisper "no."

This thread has gone from being the single gayest feature request to one of the funniest threads I have ever seen. I love the people arguing about a Zeus and a Death Star being the same. The way I see it, I would blow either of them up with a single artemis because thats just how hardcore I am.

Imagine if most of the ideas were made into actual ships and techs. I'd have to build twenty thousand punch-a-face mechs to counter four of their never-run-out-of-hydrogen space needles. It would rule out logic and crocheting.

actaully there is a point or two too this...

the game itself is not based on the O game it is literally the same game with vary minor changes, graphics, and a few names mainly,  likely just enough by a hair to aviod the infringement of copywrite

however by labeling the game StarFleet Commander...

this actaully attracts alot of players specifically becuase when they see the name they automatically assoiciate it with the Star trek franchise.

For myself when I first saw it my thought that it was a actaul tactical fleet space game based of the SFB franchise.  That is Star Fleet Battles, which is a board tactics and fleet space game, loosley based on the star trek universe.   And actually starfleet commander might actually be copywritten I supposse we could do a search, becuase I seem to recall one of the previous games had a magizine line by that name.  And most gaming companies are really good at copywritting every detail.

However I see no problem with proposing a universe modeled closer to the star trek, and another closer to star wars, and even a third closer to B5.  It might be interesting to see how the different universes could be developed and play unfold.  It would give a real reason to try the different universes.

I doubt they could possibly make it closer to star wars or star trek without having serious copyright issues.
